sbcglobal.net

Hello,

I still use an sbcglobal.net email address which was assigned to me when AT&T "took over" Yahoo a number of years.  My questions are:

  • Is sbcglobal.net being discontinued?
  • Do I need to move back to Yahoo? If so, can my emails be transferred over>
  • For how long can I continue using sbcglobal.net ?  Can I use it for free if I change internet services?

I look forward to your responses.

Did you ever get help with this.  I am getting different stories from this site and then from calling the AT&T help line.  The man (I believe I called India) told me that if I cancel my landline/internet account, I would for sure lose my sbcglobal.net email accounts.  We have almost 2 decades of use on those emails!  I want to know will I lose access to them or not!  And if not, when I have to change out or forget passwords where do I go?  as it is now, I have to go through ATT site.

Phone/chat reps make crap up all the time.  The official policy is that if you leave AT&T in good standing, meaning no outstanding balance and you've returned any equipment if requested, you can keep your email account.

You'd still do everything the same as you do now.

But if you look through all the posts in this forum, do you really want to risk continuing to use the Yahoo/AT&T email whether you're a paying customer or not?

A little over 12 years ago, I had a Yahoo account that AT&T took over and "forced" me to change from a Yahoo email address to attglobal.net.  Though inconvenient, the transition was pretty smooth and I did not lose any emails.

Making a change today will be burdensome!!!!  But, I know it is coming.  Worse than having to review years of emails that provide supporting documentation my email address will have to be changed on "dozens" of accounts especially since as the use of the internet has exploded in the past 12 years, most sites have changed from using userids to using email addresses.

Perhaps the biggest slap in the face is that AT&T has not offered to move customers to another AT&T domain and facilitate the change!!!!!  It tells you a lot about how they do business and how little they value customers.

I have been having the same issue with the sbcglobal.net password.  I am unable to reset the password or remember  the security question answers.  Can I obtain a temporary password?

Is it possible to set up Outlook to utilize my sbcglobal.net e mail?

I have tried various configurations but are unable to make it work.

Thanks

Click “forgot password” then go through the process of creating a “new” password.   You will need to do this every couple days if you don’t sign in daily or if you take break from using your email for an extended period even though you are still logged in .  :-((
