sbcglobal email account won't stay signed in

Although the box is checked to stay signed in for an sbcglobal email account, it requires a new login every time which is difficult for my 93 yr old father to do. I havent been able to find anything about this problem or how to get it fixed. He is using MS Edge browser on a Win10 computer. The back end is Yahoo. I check the "Stay signed in" box every time, then close the browser and when reopened, the whole login process is required and the "Stay signed in" box is no longer checked. is there a system setting that is preventing this from happening? Please help!

Hi there, sthagencpa. We understand that you are having troubles with the "Keep Me Signed In" process we can help you with that.

According to your post, we see that you are using Windows10 and MS Edge as the browser.  That's great!. Both of those things are compatible. In reading over your post we do think there is a step missing. You are clicking the "Keep Me Signed in" and then closing the browser, but does the account even sign in? The reason why we ask is that "Keep Me Signed in" is to be used with sign in process. If the account never signs in or is getting a sign in error, the cache of the browser will not engage and the cookie, which is "Keep Me Signed in" is, will not be created to keep the account signed in.

There maybe another setting, but that is in the browser itself and that setting is "clear cache and cookies when closing the browser."  Let's make sure that that setting is not being used:

  1. Go to the ellipses (***) over in the right-hand corner of the browser window.
  2. From the drop down menu go to settings.
  3. Go to Privacy, search and services
  4. Look to the right for Clear browser data
  5. Find Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
  6. Click on the arrow pointing right.
  7. In the list provided, make sure that Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, and passwords, have not been turned on. The toggle switch is not blue.

What were are looking for is anything that could prevent the "Keep Me Signed in" from working.

After these options and setting have been checked, close the browser and try again.

Another workaround of that option is to save the password in the browser window, so that each time the page loads, it automatically inputs the password, to log in.

Please let us know if this works for you.

That setting was turned off as you suggested it might be and I turned it off.  The mail account now opens without having to sign in every time!  Many thanks!!
