Recent massive failure in Sp*m filtering

About three weeks ago, I started getting flooded with Sp*m. I have spoken with other ATT based e-mail users who have experienced the same. It looks like Current/Yahoo stopped filtering Sp*m. There does not seem to be a way to contact either of those companies to get the issue resolved. Can someone at ATT help us out. It is nearly a third of my e-mail at this point. Setting filters does not help because senders never use the same domain twice.

@edcuccia  Please point out where we are specifically defending AT&T/Yahoo. I guess saying that the email mess is a giant cluster frack that AT&T/Yahoo can't or won't fix is defending AT&T/Yahoo.

I noticed the increase in spam around the same time I started getting emails for me to upgrade to the new experience. The new experience has increased spam filtering if I recall the email correctly. I use outlook as my email client so I'm not sure exactly what I'm upgrading. I suspect it is a web portal experience which I'm sure will contain banners that help generate revenue for AT&T.  I guess the $110 I spend each month for fiber internet access isn't enough for spam email filtering. I've had my account for over 20 years and sooner or later almost all companies will choose increased revenue over the customer experience. I believe large companies don't listen to home user account holders until there is a substantial loss of revenue or a social media event that paints them in a negative light. If you want action, don't post in the AT&T forms, take it to Facebook, Twitter, and etc.

The paid service has NO increased spam filtering.  So there's not some money grabbing conspiracy as some are suggesting.  Many people have posted here who signed up under the impression it would fix the problem and have reported it made no difference.

The "upgrade" is mainly features designed for the web interface and most won't really apply to those using email clients.  Here's the list of the added features....

@Zedd_Walker  Or better yet, file a complaint with the BBB and/or the FCC. That carries more weight that social media. AT&T already has a negative light shining on them so anything added from social media won't really make a difference.

I'm not sure about that, @OttoPylot.

The FCC just forwards the complaints to the Office of the President Exec Care Team, just like the form I've often linked to here.  I mean maybe that gets a black mark on the FCC's naughty list, I don't know.   But, given how many people must complain about a company as big as AT&T, the few thousands with these email issues looks like a grain of sand on a large beach.

Plus there's the mountain of AT&T Lobbyists poking the FCC all the time that I don't really see anything coming from such a minor hoopla as these issues can generate.  And before anyone goes all sideways, I know it's not minor to anyone affected by it, quite the opposite, but again, a grain a sand in the overall scheme of things.

But your final point is probably right.  I really don't think AT&T cares one way or the other how much noise is made on social media.

@tonydi  I realize that but it would still be probably more effective than complain in social media.

I’ve had Yahoo-based free email for around two decades and I’ve received more spam in the past two months than in the preceding 20 years combined. Did Yahoo suddenly forget how to fight spam? I think not.

They recently started pushing “Yahoo Plus” (a paid premium service) whoch they specifically tout for its enhanced junk/spam-fighting capability. Is this mere coincidence, or did they cynically degrade the spam filter on free accounts in order to goose demand for their paid service? I smell a rat. 😒

From what I've read, their Plus service isn't any better at blocking spam for some AT&T/Yahoo email users.

No rat but maybe that particular conspiracy theory is finally rotting on the vine.

Show me where Mail + says it has enhanced junk/spam-fighting capability.
