Hi there, dawntreader56. We understand that you have received an email, and you are asking if it legitimate or not. We can help with that.

First and foremost, AT&T will never ask for you to upgrade your account, by providing a link to an email. We would normally request that you call us.

As well as there are some important features of that email that are missing. All automated emails that are sent from AT&T would include the following:

  1. Our 1(800) number.
  2. The customer account number referenced.

So with that information, no that email is not legitimate. Do not click on any links provided in that email. Either delete it or "mark it as spam".

For more information, please check out how to identify fake emails or phishing emails, and what you can do to prevent them.

If there is anything else that we can do for you, please let us know.

Thank you for posting with the AT&T Community Forums.

Thanks for the feedback. Anytime I have any doubt whatsoever I never click on anything in the email - your advice is well taken by anyone that desires to keep malware off their computer!
