Problem getting into email

Ever since they installed a update every time I try to access email I get a message " to keep you safe ,we'll send you a code to confirm your identity." There is a box to check which I do.  Same thing every time. . Their automated system doesn't understand the problem. Seems it may be easier to move to a different email.

Hi Caesar44, we'd be glad to help you access your email!

Try troubleshooting your mailbox using our Login and Email Solutions guide. Here are some of the most common steps to take:

  • Clear your cache and cookies - the most common fix.

  • Update your browser - many features are only compatible with the latest browser and we recommend updating it.

  • Test signing in to your webmail using another browser.

  • Disable browser tools or add-ons - this varies by device and browser.

If you're using a 3rd party client like Outlook or Apple Mail, use the section for 3rd party mailboxes.

If the problem persists, please give us more information, so we can determine what your next steps should be.

  • What mail client are you using? We recommend Currently, as it's the official platform for AT&T mail.
  • What device does this happen on? If it's specific to one device, the problem may not lie with the mail client.

We'll be awaiting your response.

I cleared  the cookies and cache but that didn't resolve the issue. To answer your questions. I am using ATT Currently and this is running on a Windows PC.  I don't do email on my phone.  There was no problem until that last update about five days ago.  Do you have another suggestion?  It seems I remember some place in Windows that stored temporary passwords. Could it be corrupted.  Thanks for help

Thanks for sharing that information with us, @Caesar44.

We'd suggest resetting your password and then trying to log back into your email account:

  1. Go to http://sm.att.com/b134a1c4.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

Let us know if you're able to log into back into your email account after resetting your password.

I reset the password. It then took me in to my account information and required a code.  I went out and came back in my email and it did the same thing.  Thanks for trying. Any other suggestions?

Let's dig a little deeper into this, @Caesar44.

We'll just need some clarification to ensure that we take the proper troubleshooting steps moving forward. Are you able to receive the code and use it to access your email each time, or are you completely locked out and stuck in a login loop?

If you can't get into your email at all, we may need to move this conversation to a more private space so that we can try some troubleshooting on our end.

We look forward to hearing back from you!

Thank you for response. The problem is every time I try to get into email, it gives me the following message. "To keep your info safe, we"ll send you a code to confirm your identity."  Changed the password and the same problem. When I get the code I get in as you normally would.  This started occuring when I got one of those night time updates.  Everything else it working normally.  Thanks

Not the Gateway.  It was a Windows update. Besides this it removed icons and I had to do some work to get photoshop and related programs to work

It was not the Gateway. It was a Windows update. Besides this problem it removed all if my icons and I had to do some work to get photoshop and related programs to work. Could the email program be uninstalled and then reinstalled to see if that fixes the problem?

What program are you using to get your e-mail?  Do you use it for more than your AT&T e-mail?
