Outlook re-loading emails

This problem just started.  Outlook (Microsoft 365) connects to my att.net email account, using a secure app password.  Outlook opens, my new emails appear - then, after a few minutes when it tries to sync - the Inbox empties and I see this balloon image with a message about "You're done for the day".  Then, after a few minutes, Outlook starts re-loading all of my emails.  I've even re-installed Outlook.

Hi there, SKB17. Let's address your concern about your emails reloading.

We recommend that you log in to Currently to see if the issue occurs there as well. If so, we may need to look into resetting your password to re-sync your email.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that we have for third-party mailbox support such as Outlook, Thunderbird, and Apple Mail:

  • Test using webmail - If you are able to sign in to your email via the web, the issue points to the app or mailbox you are using.

  • Mailboxes - we recommend using the latest version. Updates and changes may prevent it from working properly.

  • Rebuild Mailbox profile - In some instances, rebuilding the profile fixes some issues. You may lose email doing this

  • Change your settings from POP to IMAP

  • Client issues - If you are using POP, you must now use IMAP

  • Reset your secure key - this has helped resolve issues in the past, especially when signing into another client or troubleshooting your current one.

Please let us know if these troubleshooting steps worked for you.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

I can access my email directly through at&t - with no problem.  I have been told (by Microsoft) that this may be an issue with Outlook (365) for Mac.
