logging me out of email

Every two weeks when I have to log in to my email I'm blocked and AT&T says I've tried to log in too many times even though it's not true. Every two weeks I have to change my password because AT&T says it's wrong when it isn't.

Let's get you logged back into your email, @rwwear.

If you're constantly getting a care code 205.2 error when trying to sign in, that generally means that your email is locked because our mail server has received too many invalid login attempts. A good fix for this is resetting your email password, and then immediately switching over your credentials in all of your email applications (outlook, apple mail, etc.) so that our servers aren't being pinged with incorrect login information.

You can reset your password easily by following these steps:

  1. Go to att.com/myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

(You may even want to try clearing your email credentials in those applications first, just to stop them from trying to connect with incorrect information and potentially causing another care code error once you do reset your password).

Let us know how these steps work for you!

I have done as you suggested and it works. But every two weeks I am logged off automatically and have to change my password in order to log back on. AT&T states I have tried to log on too many times which is not true. I have only tried to log on once and no go. I know my password. there is no confusion about that. It is an inconvenience that I don't need.

Thanks

Robt.

This has been happening to me for about 6 months. Every. Two. Weeks. I get logged out and when I log back in with my CORRECT email, it tells me it's incorrect and that I have tried too many times (ONCE). I then need to reset everything again. This is beyond annoying.

My guess is AT&T just doesn't know what they are doing.

I actually think I may have figured it out. I got sidetracked trying to create an email alias and in doing so noticed that my User ID was - for some unknown reason - listed as "unverified". It's the same User ID I've had since the creation of time (internet). I went through the process of verifying my ID and I think it may have fixed the problem. Such a stupid little thing and you'd have thought someone with AT&T would've been able to identify it.  :(

AT&T just logged me out when I attempted to find out if I was verified.

How do you tell if you are unverified Jody?

So I was in the process of doing this when I discovered my User ID was unverified. Just follow the steps below and when you get to step 3 - you should see on the right hand side of the page your User ID. Right next to it there should be a little tag that says "verified" or "unverified". If it says "unverified", follow the prompts to get it verified and hopefully that will fix your problem.

this is getting ridiculous

Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue.
