Hi there, Suziescripts. We understand that you have been locked out of your sbcglobal email. We do understand the importance of your email to keep in contact with friends and family. We can look at this deeper.

Per your post, you see that you have done the normal troubleshooting that consists of resetting your password and things of this nature, so we are going to ask a few questions to make a determination of the best course of action to take.

  1. What error are you getting? The reason why we are asking this is, error messages can tell us what could be the concern, when it comes to an email lock out.
  2. Are you able to check your email on any other devices, like a mobile phone? The reason why we ask that is, it could be that webmail, on the internet, is just locked out, and the other device is not.
  3. Do you check your email using an email client like Outlook? The reason why we ask that is, email clients use a secure mail key.  A secure mail key is like a password, except that it cannot be reset. It can only be deleted and created.

If you could provide the answers to those questions. Once we have those answers, we can procced to troubleshoot and resolve your email lock out.

Looking forward to hearing more from you soon.

I'm having the same issue. It's SOOOOOOO frustrating. After chatting to several folks live, and numerous wait times calling in, they promised I'd hear back in 48-72 hours. Well 3 days later no one has contacted me and I'm again stuck calling numerous numbers, talking to people that cannot help and being given the runaround. They have stated that this is a known, widespread event. It's beyond frustrating. All of my banking, medical, business, and personal lives are tied up on this account that no-one seems able to unlock. And no.....I can't remember what my favorite book was thirty years ago so I can't answer the security questions!

I had the same issue this morning,  woke up and my iPhone app had signed me out of my att.net email and I couldn't sign back in.  Tried it on the desktop and couldn't get it to work with the recovery.  Gave me the same code:

We’ve noticed activity that suggests your password may be compromised. To keep your info safe, select Forgot password to set a strong, new password.
CARE CODE: 203.2 [FL001]

I tried calling several numbers and no one could help.

Then I called 877-844-5584 and got ahold of a human,  gave them my last name,  gave them every zip code that I could think of ever having in the past 15 years and one of them worked,  gave them the last 4 of my cell number which they happen to have on file,  they sent me a 1 time code to use in the password field when logging in on the desktop,  it worked!  I changed the password, changed my recovery email to a different one incase this happens again and it's been working ever since on the desktop and the iPhone.  Try it and reply back here if it went through for you. Good luck!

Same issue here. I've got nowhere and nobody seems to know how to unlock my account.

ak911t - I called that number and rep stated that because I didn't have an alternate email address or cell number associated with my locked out email address they couldn't send me a temporary passcode.  If I couldn't remember my security question answers, I'm screwed.  I've had that email address for 10 years!  That is insane and unacceptable.

@goshrl567, we'd be happy to assist with your email.

Since you were not able to reset it on your own, we will need to look into manually resetting your password for you.  We will need to meet in a Direct Message to further assist on this matter. Please check your Direct Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).  We will be messaging you shortly.

There are thousands of people in pain because AT&T can’t fix this problem - for well over a year. I have submitted documentation that I own my account on  SBC - nothing. I started this process almost a year ago. Have spent hours and hours on the phone. Changed my password multiple times. Friends have offered to send me email correspondence as evidence that it’s my account - but what do I do with it?? Because I don’t have a recovery email, any code sent for a password change, just goes back to SBC. I have had the same phone number for decades, doesn’t that mean something? What’s interesting, is I used an old laptop that I used for years for SBC email, and I I just had my password I probably would have gotten it - I could see I have thousands of emails (paled out in gray). So near and yet so far…

@Youngster90027 I filed a FCC complaint yesterday and today got a call from the ATT office of the president (funny how that works). The woman there was very helpful and was able to give me a temporary password to sign in and change my password.
