Locked out of my sbcglobal email. Login states "The limit for unsuccessful sign-in attempts has been reached" on first try. Please Help!

Hello,

I have been locked out of my sbcgloblal email account. I have had this account for a very long time (~15 years) and a lot of important accounts are connected to this email. This email has been hacked in the past, and the hacker changed my password and security questions. I believe this has happened again.

My phone has been logged in to this email for a long time. Recently, a notification has been popping up on my phone, stating the password for this account is incorrect and to retype the password in the phones settings. I believe my phone has been constantly trying to sign in to the account with the incorrect password, so when I attempt to login on my computer, the email will not let me even attempt to login, stating the maximum number of attempts has been reached.

This email was setup by my parents a very long time ago, and it is a "sub account" to my parents email account. When I try to reset my password using the "forgot password?" tool on AT&T's login page, the only option it gives me to recover the account is to answer the security questions. there is no option to use the backup/primary email to recover. When I attempt to use the security questions to recover email, it tells me that my answers are incorrect. This is what happened last time my account was hacked.

To make things worse, today I deleted the email account from my phone so it would stop trying to connect with the incorrect password. Apparently my phone has been saving all of my personal phone contacts to my sbcglobal email, so when I deleted the account from my phone, it removed all of my contacts from my phone as well.

I desperately need all of my contacts back. Please help!

We're here to assist with your email contacts being restored, @wmburdick93!

We understand the importance of being able to access a long-standing email!

When it comes to restoring all your email contacts you can take these steps:

  1. Select Contacts  and then Deleted Contacts.
  2. Choose Restore from backup.
  3. Select the date and time you want to restore your contacts to. If there isn't a list of dates available, we couldn't find any contacts from your address book to restore.
  4. Select Restore. You’ll see a confirmation if your contacts were restored successfully.

When it comes to restting your email password, we will nede to move this conversation into a direct message. Since youa re unable to rest it on your end, we can check for any rest options on our end. Be on the lookout for a chat notification in the upper right-hand portion of the page, next to the bell icon.

We look forward to speaking with you!
