Locked out of email for 1 year

I was abruptly locked out of my 2 email accounts approx a year ago.  I called ATT, the tech was not able to get me in either. We were on the phone for  an hour.   He didn't know what the problem was.   It is extremely frustrating as ALL of my email & other accts are linked to those emails so I can't even access to approve changes on my linked accts.  I have tried Firefox, Google, Yahoo, MS Edge.  No luck. I also tried the info listed in other streams (ie, selecting "forgot password"   just get a "no account".)  I've also tried clearing cache and cookies.  I've had the same emails for 20+ years.   I can access my ATT ID email but not the linked emails.

Thank you for reaching out to us! We understand that you're locked out of your AT&T email accounts and trying to access your email accounts. We hear you, and happy to assist you with this.


Please try resetting your email password using the temporary password option:

  1. Go to
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

You can also reset password with the below provided steps:

  1. Go to the AT&T website or open the AT&T application.
  2. Click on the “Forgot Password” link.
  3. Enter your full AT&T email address in the “User ID” field.
  4. Type your last name and click “Continue”.
  5. Choose your verification method and follow the prompts.
  6. Enter and confirm your new password.

You can also update your security questions and answers and add a mobile number for resets. If you check your email at, you’ll always manage your email password on (myAT&T). Please note that the password used to sign into your email and myAT&T are the same. If you change your AT&T Mail password, your AT&T user ID password will change, too.


If you don’t know your password, try signing in to your email using your new password. If that doesn’t work, you can reset your password by following the steps mentioned above.

This did not work.   I even tried adding my email to my ATT User ID Email.  My problem is I can't access my email account associated with that email.  I don't need to access my account ID, just an email I have had for over 20 years.   Idk if it helps, but my email I am trying to access is a email.  I use to be able to access via the Yahoo email.  But now when I put it in the email address with Forgot Password, to access, in which it responds with : RESTORE ACCESS.  Too many sign-in attempts. To restore access, let's make sure it's really you.   Care code 2052.  It prompts me to put in my Last Name.  I put in my Last Name.  It responds with  "we found multiple accounts that use the same user ID. SELECT USER ID TO RESTORE ACCESS.  ATT&T User ID (the one you use to access your email) ".  I do that then get, "UNABLE TO RESTORE ACCESS AT THIS TIME . We don't have the account details needed to restore access."       The techs with the Support # I call can not get me in either.   This is an email account I've had since before BellSouth became ATT & have used ever since.

You may need to wait up to 24 hours after your password has been reset for your information to re-sync in our systems. We recommend you can take a look at this reference regarding care code 205.2.
