Locked out of Bellsouth.net email on computer

I have a bellsouth.net email account and I can't get into it on my computer.  I have been able to access via phone.  I have gone to myATT.com and tried all of the options.  I somehow changes an email that lets me log into my old ATT account (for internet and TV, not email).  after changing password, etc, I tried to log in again and got the "looks like youve tried to log in too many times.  Recover your ID or reset your password to continue.  care code 205.2 [LU003].

Please help, this has been my primary email for past 15 years.

@Mamacat104 I have been having the same issue with my bellsouth.net address for months and I quit trying to get it fixed with ATT and their useless solutions. I spent hours on the phone with numerous people who could not help. Eventually I was able to get someone who temporarily fixed the issue, but a few weeks later I was locked out again for no reason. And just like you this is an email address I have used for many years that I have everything tied to and its unacceptable they cannot find a solution. Clearly this is a problem they have created on their side and its been going on for a long time and their devs are not trying to find a solution. Luckily it still works through the mail app on my phone, but if that ever stops working I am screwed. I have created a new address that is NOT through ATT and slowly migrating over to that, but that is 15 years worth of contacts and accounts that have to be changed over. Using is on my phone is not ideal because I sometimes have forms that I need to work on and attach and that needs to be done on my laptop. Now I have to forward emails from this account to another email address so I can work on my laptop. This whole issues started a few months ago when I switched our phones over from Verizon to ATT and they merged my ATT accounts (internet and phone) into one account and it screwed everything up. Wishing I never changed to ATT because I also get less signal strength in many places now along with this email address headache. Been nothing but trouble since the change.

@ATTHelp  Your steps don’t work for me. When I select forgot password it takes me to a user ID page and then a field to enter my last name underneath that. My user ID would be my bellsouth.net email adddress as I don’t have any other kind of user ID and when I entered that it said “those records aren’t a match in our system”. So what else am I supposed to do? My bellsouth.net email address isn’t linked to any AT&T account. It’s strictly a standalone bellsouth.net email address I’ve had for 15 years or so now. I’ve used it for the longest on the yahoo page to login on a computer whenever I needed too or from the yahoo mail app on my iPhone for awhile now too. So, what other fixes can you do besides take it up with the programmers at the company?

@wbdarrow   I think that is what I'm going to have to do..  more and more it seems that AT&T don't care about us and this problem.  if yahoo is tied to our email accounts, my question is WHY haven't they gotten involved in fixing this mess.  My friend keeps telling me that AT&T is a useless company anymore... and told me to get another email address and move my bills and important accounts over to it.. something that is reliable and I won't have an issue trying to log in..

What is crazy is yahoo.com emails, do not have this issue..  but AT&T tied to yahoo does have the issue..  AT&T needs to get yahoo involved in fixing it... ...

@ATTHelp Can you please engage with me via a DM as I've been unable to access my email now for multiple days and have the same problems with resetting my password.  Please see my post above for more details.

@thompsam2 Im not sure of your particular situation as in if you are still an AT&T customer or not but from what I was told yesterday after being sent on a circus of phone calls is that an outage happened a couple months back I believe and that’s caused all kinds of problems with their servers and people trying to get into their “legacy emails” as they call them. The guy I spoke too tried solutions over the phone but he wasn’t really a technician either he said.  He just said more and more people have been calling saying they can’t access their legacy emails and the outage is probably what caused it. I didn’t get a solution really but to try different ATT people to see. It’s a free email account and it shouldn’t matter whether you are an existing ATT customer or not but just letting you know of my problem and what I was told lately.

@AtomT  thanks for the background.  I am not a current ATT customer but have used my Bellsouth.net account as my primary email for probably 25 years.  Your email is worrisome because it doesn’t seem like anyone on the support side of the phone knows how to fix this and may not be very motivated to help a non revenue generating customer.

I guess I will probably call on Monday as the weekend staff is not usually the first team, and see if anyone can help me.  I’m concerned that based on your experience,  I may never see the last couple days of emails and it may be time to switch primary email service providers.

@AtomT   Complete 🐂💩.  This has been an ongoing problem since last October.  In June AT&T made this post.

@thompsam2   There is no "first team" when you call "support".  You may get different countries at various times, but they are all totally clueless and exist only to read their exact same scripts or pass you off to someone else so their call metrics don't get dinged and risk being fired.

@tonydi Yeah perhaps. All I care is trying to get into my bellsouth email. It’s weird it’s affecting people gradually at different times though. Mine just started this past week for no reason. I think it happened in 2017 too but I was able to resolve and get back in then. I assume there was an outage or something that happened to get to this point. It’s whether they are willing to fix it or not is the thing. They have no obligation to a free old email domain such as bellsouth and the others they offered back then. It’s a wait and see approach right now as no matter who I call I’m sure they will go through the same steps to try and help but their hands are tied.
