Locked out of Bellsouth.net email on computer

I have a bellsouth.net email account and I can't get into it on my computer.  I have been able to access via phone.  I have gone to myATT.com and tried all of the options.  I somehow changes an email that lets me log into my old ATT account (for internet and TV, not email).  after changing password, etc, I tried to log in again and got the "looks like youve tried to log in too many times.  Recover your ID or reset your password to continue.  care code 205.2 [LU003].

Please help, this has been my primary email for past 15 years.

Hi wbdarrow, let's see if resetting your password with myAT&T helps you log in.

Using the Forgot password option usually works best.

  1. Go to att.com/myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

You could also just use the I know my password option.

  1. Go to your Sign-in info.
  2. Select Change password.
  3. Enter and save your password info.

Let us know if this helped you log in.

Unfortunately, I am having the same issue. I had this issue a few weeks ago and after multiple calls and many hours on the phone with ATT someone was able to fix the issue for me. Worked for about 3 weeks and then suddenly stopped working again except on my phone. There was a way to change the email password from my ATT account login, but that feature is now missing. They changed something on the back end. If you find a solution please post it here. I will be calling ATT when I get home but I feel it will be a waste of time.

I can sign into my ATT account. Changing that password does nothing for my Bellsouth.net email address. I started getting the error below even when using the correct password. Email was working and I was logged in and then suddenly it stopped working.

Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue.

Its unacceptable what has happened. I have had this issued "fixed" 3 times and then it stops working again. A month ago when I was working with ATT on this issue I was actually able to login to my ATT account and see my two email addresses (one being the bellsouth.net address) and request a password reset. It did not work, but at least that function was available. Now that function no longer exists in the console when I login to ATT. And the tech that I was working with was able to send me a link via text to make an attempt at resetting. When I spoke with the tech last night she said there is not enough information in my account to send me a link to reset it. She basically told me that if it stops working on my phone for whatever reason I will be permanently locked out of the account I have used for 15 years. Unacceptable!

Here's my issue with my bellsouth.net email that happened today. I can access my bellsouth.net email either through my yahoo mail app on my iphone I have it set up on OR on a computer through the yahoo.com login page. I've never had trouble getting into my email from those two sources except many many years ago if I remember and I don't remember how it was resolved. I think it's doing the same thing again..anyway, so I was in my yahoo mail app and a white box popped up and said "we need to reauthorize your mail account" referring to the bellsouth.net one. It stopped syncing and had a little red circle with an exclamation mark inside of it by that email account. I thought I could go and set it up again on the yahoo mail app and I proceeded to do so. However, when I tried to enter my username on the yahoo mail login page through the app, it took me straight to a AT&T login page. I don't have an AT&T account until now to talk through this forum. I've never had to have one before in order to access my bellsouth.net email. I tried entering it in the AT&T login page anyway and it said something about "the number of attempts was exceeded, please try again.." I then tried accessing my bellsouth.net account on my laptop computer and went to the yahoo.com login page where I usually can and it also took me to an AT&T login page as soon as I entered the email address. What happened? Is this a wide server issue now or something we weren't informed of? I feel this happened to me years ago, but I can't remember what happened to fix it. I could be wrong too though and this might be the first time this has happened. Can this be fixed somehow? I've tried workaround on my phone for the email and nothing is working.

Let's get your email working again, @AtomT!

You may want to try resetting your email password. This can re-sync your email and help most common email issues like this.

  1. Go to att.com/myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

Depending on the model of your iPhone, it may not be compatible with our OAuth (open authentication) security feature. If that's the case, you'll need to set up a secure mail key to access your email.

Please let us know if this helps! If not, we may need to take a closer look at your email.

I am having the exact same problem with my bellsouth.net account.  Yesterday it stopped working on all 3 of my devices and I when I try to log on via a browser, I get this error:

"The limit for unsuccessful sign-in attempts has been reached. Select Forgot user ID or Forgot password to restore access.
CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]"
I have not attempted to change my password in th past 2 days and I know the password I am using is correct.  The error occurs when I'm using a browser or via the Mac Mail or iOS mail app where the password is cached on the device.
I have attempted to reset my password as described above but I can't get through the security question challenge even though I'm pretty sure my answers match what I would have used when the security questions were set up.  Is there another "emergency" process I can use to verify my "ownership" of the email account and get my password reset?

@ATTHelp   YOUR solutions do NOT help... I have been having issues with my email for months and NO solution given works...  After AT&T logged me out of my email yesterday, I tried to log back into mine and got the message that I have tried too many times to log in (Which I had NOT done.. I ONLY tried once!!!)..  I clicked the "Forgot Password" and did the new password and got in...  NOW this morning, once again.. AT&T logged me out and when I tried to get logged back in, I get a message that IF I try to log in one more time they will lock my account... I clicked "Reset password" and went through once again, what I did yesterday... to get in..  this problem has been going on for MONTHS and you people have done NOTHING to fix the log in problem...  I had another of my accounts that locked me out because it said I tried too many times to log in.. called them on the phone and in 5 minutes they fixed the problem at their end... I no longer have an issue with that account..  but it appears that AT&T is NOT trying to solve this problem for their customers... as it has been going on for months now with NO help ...  I use my email to take care of my bills which ALL come to me through my email...I also get information from my bank, my doctors, etc through my email and I must have a reliable email and you don't seem to want to fix your problem with the email for your customers...  Your solution you keep giving people do NOT work... YOU need to get your programmers to fix the issue... It seems no one is bumping this problem up the ladder to get it fixed.. you just keep giving the same old solution that does NOT work...
