How to use bellsouth.net email address with POP and stay logged in indefinitely

Can I pay a monthly/yearly fee to upgrade my bellsouth.net email address so I can stay logged in indefinitely and not have to login every two weeks plus allow me to use POP!?

I am fed up with having to login every two weeks to my bellsouth.net email address I have had for almost 30yrs. In the past month, I can not log back in because it says I tried too many times to log in, which I only tried once. I have to click "forgot password" and reset my password - using the exact same password I always use, then two weeks later go through the exact same procedure again. In addition to this, I can no longer use this account as POP. It has to be IMAP, which I hate for the specific way I use my emails.

If I can't pay to upgrade my bellsouth.net email address, how can I take my email address to another provider so I can get a POP setup and stay logged in indefinitely?

We're here to address your email concerns, @Mercury2kA.

To start, there is no subscription service that's offered for bellsouth.net email accounts, however you shouldn't have to pay to stay logged in. It's recently been found that the reason many of our customers are getting locked out of their email accounts is due to bad actors trying to maliciously force their way into our customers emails, and then getting locked out upon trying to login unsuccessfully too many times.

To counter this, our security team is actively monitoring the situation and banning the offending IP addresses responsible, however we ask that you continue to use the email password reset as a workaround until this matter is fully resolved.

In regards to switching your email to using POP, you should be able to use a POP setup so long as you're using the correct email configuration. You may also want to create a Secure Mail Key to see if that has any impact on your ability to get your email working with your client.

Lastly, if you do decide you'd like to switch email address providers, you'll need to create a new email address with the provider of your choice and then update your contact information with all the companies you have set to send emails to your current email to your new one instead. You wouldn't however be able to bring the bellsouth.net email address itself to another provider- that would continue to fall under us for as long as you have it.

We hope the information helps, and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks for reaching out on the AT&T Community Forums!

Thank you for your reply. I am specifically referring to Yahoo AT&T Currently webmail. The webmail is where I want to stay logged in indefinitely. When I am logged out, the ONLY options for logging back in is "Stay logged in for 2 weeks? Yes or No" There is no option to say logged in indefinitely. What about AT&T Yahoo Mail Plus? Cost is $5 per month but I can find no information about if it allows to to stay logged into the webmail in my Chrome browser indefinitely. Can you find out and post here if I can stay logged into Mail Plus indefinitely instead of being automatically logged out every 2 weeks? Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, @Mercury2kA.

To answer your question, Yahoo Mail Plus is specifically for Yahoo Mail, and the features of it don't include the ability to stay logged in indefinitely. That being said, we are still looking into the lockout issue, since you shouldn't have to bother with password resets and being locked out of your email constantly.

We appreciate your patience with us as our security team continues to investigate. Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions or concerns, and thanks for reaching out on the AT&T Community Forums.

Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue.

Let us provide more information about this care code, GBLAIR05.

This is part of the email issue that we're in the process of finding a solution for, as Jarod stated. We don't have an estimated resolution time, but we're doing our best to fix this.

If you need help with anything else, don't hesitate to reach back out. Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

Update: It is not fixed yet. I just had to reset my password to login again. Same message "Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue." although I only tried to login ONCE. An unusual thing is that it lets me use the exact same password I previously used and it thinks it's a new password.
