How to Reset your Email Password using myAT&T
You are here because you can't sign in to your email or you forgot one of your many passwords. Resetting your password is one of the fastest solutions. Let's get started!
How To Change Your Password
Go to www.att.com or use the myAT&T app:
-
Login to the myAT&T app, scroll, and select "My plans & features"
-
Hit the "plus" button next to your service and select "Manage my network & email"
-
Select "Change Email Password"
Note: If you are still unable to log in after resetting your password, wait 12 hours for the system to update and try again.
Security Questions Help & Free Accounts
If you recently attempted to reset your password, you can use your account at www.att.com to reset it. Please note:
- The email must be tied to an active account for a password reset to work
- Free emails do not have the option to reset via an att.com unless there is an account tied to it
Free Email
A free email is a standalone email account that once was tied to an AT&T account. Once that account is canceled, AT&T no longer has the ability to reset your password. In order to reset your password, you must use your security questions to reset it.
If you do not remember your security questions/ answers. AT&T WILL NOT reset your account. This is done to protect personal information since we cannot validate the email address. It is like giving away the keys to your car without verifying it is belongs to you. AT&T currently has no workaround for these types of issues and is unable to assist.

I usually read my Bellsouth email in the Yahoo app on my phone and it has been ages since I needed to use my password. Recently, the app stopped displaying older messages. I need to re-read one, so I tried to log in from my laptop. I can't remember the password - how in the heck do I reset it? Yahoo isn't any help because Bellsouth counts as an AT&T email. When I try to reset on the AT&T site, I am directed to a page with phone numbers for various AT&T products but not email. This is so frustrating!

Hello raytowner
If the affected email address contains Yahoo's domain and is currently not merged with an active ATT domain email address, you will need to follow regular procedures provided by Yahoo to have the password reset.

The above solution offered by ATTU-versecare doesn't work without also knowing the password for the subaccount. Can someone please answer these two questions:
1. When one changes the password for the main client id account, does that also change the subaccounts associated with that main account as well, as claimed by the at&t website? if so, how come when I change my main account password, my subaccount still does not accept this new password.
2. If one does not know the original password of the subaccount, how can one reset or change it?

Hi @Agnes251,
With your sub-account, it does not use the same password as the main account. To reset or change the password on the sub-account, you will be able to use the forgot password option outlined in the article above. You will just put in the information on the sub-account. If the sub-account is not active, then you can reactivate it through the primary account. If still having issues, you can reach out to us by calling the number above for the Digital Assistance Center. Let us know if you are still having any issues, and we can look into it further for you.
