Help with CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]
A few weeks ago I stopped being able to access one of my SBC Global email subaccounts via Yahoo email. I tried signing in with the username and password directly on various other platforms, but kept getting various errors. If I tried through Yahoo, it would log me into the main account, not the sub, which was strange.
When I try to log in directly, I get this error message now: There have been too many failed sign in attempts. To get help, please visit att.com/myatt and use Forgot user ID or Forgot password links. CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]
Then, when I try the "Forget Password" link, I get this error message: "Something's gone wrong. Please refresh the page and try again."
I'm not sure what is going on. The subaccount is still listed with all the accounts, but I can't edit it, or any of my other subaccounts.
Any thoughts of how to fix this or is there a chat or number I can call to talk this out or walk me through this? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. Likely bots are trying to access multiple ATT accounts and after their failed attempts, you are locked out.
This puts you into an endless loop because you need to log into your account to update your account, but you can't because you can't log into your account.

@TryGmail so I got it fixed.... I chatted with customer support and they were great. They reset my account and sent me a temp password. It didn't work the first time, but the second time we finally got it to work. Then I had to delete my account info on my mac and iPhone and reAdd the account info for yahoo. All of those steps work. Since my iPhone and Mac are new, all the mail apps are oAuth so no need for a key. Good luck with your issue - try the support chat offered after failed login - they were great.

I can't login to my sbc account. I get the same code, but if I click "forgot password" it wants me to answer two security questions. This account is about 20 years old so I don't remember the answers and I never wrote them down. I waited 24 hours before trying again, but I still get that code. Now I don't even know if I have the correct password, I'm so confused. I cleared my browser and updated it. Please help

After weeks with this same care code, and multiple times on the phone, I finally got it fixed just now. I called 877 267 2859 press 2 then 4 and have them resynchronize your accounts.

I am having the same problem. First it was on my laptop, but somehow I got that cleared and I am now getting emails. Today, I woke up and there are no emails coming through on my iPhone. When I try to go in to check the password, it gives me that same error message that everyone else is getting (and that I got on my laptop yesterday). Clearly this is an on-going, ATT problem and THEY need to get it fixed.
I tried what mercykevin above said worked for him, but the system tells me I don't have the correct 4 digit code (which is my code, I know what it is) and then promptly hangs up.

I got this same CARE CODE message on my home desktop a month ago and fumbled my way through it (cleared cookies, etc), tried different log-in windows but i kept getting the message. I don't remember how i regained access last month.
Then again this morning i got the same message again on my desktop PC and i tried logging in on various log-in pages but kept getting the same CARE CODE message.
So instead of clearing cookies etc, what i did this time was I clicked Forgot Password, then they texted me a 6-digit code to my cell phone
as my temporary password, i entered that 6-digit code in the field,
then it prompted me to enter my new password, but instead of creating a new password i typed in my normal password that i'd already been using for years and it accepted it (it didn't make me change it), then
i was able to log in to my att.net email normally. Now that i did this i think this is what i did last month when it happed the first time.
I'm thinking that scammers or spammers or bots that aquired our att and yahoo email address on previous data breaches are trying to access our accounts and causing this "Too many attempts" thing.

So this has been going on well over a year. I have searched extensively and cannot find a fix. Has anyone found a way to resolve this issue?
