Error Care Code 205.2

Help!! I can't log into my email from my Samsung S21 phone. I get error car code 205.2, which asks me to test my password.  I've done this a number of times and keep getting the same error.  When i log in from computer, it works.  I've reset my phone completely, tried others phones, spent HOURS on the phone with customer service with no help.  What else can i do? Seems like this is a system issue.

Hello @Anasarai7,

We'd be more than happy to take a closer look into this issue that you're experiencing with the email on your cell phone.

Is it possible that you've been locked out of your email account due to too many unsuccessful sign in attempts?

What email domain do you have set up on your cell phone's mail app?

Also, are you referring to Samsung customer service, your email domain's customer service, or AT&T?

Please let us know.

We look forward to hearing back from you soon!

It is possible that I've been locked out. I speak to customer service, they unlock me, i reset my password successfully,  then i try to log in on my email app on my phone (samsung) or even the yahoo app, and i get the same error message.  I'm trying to log into my att.net email address.

Hi @! Let's address your AT&T Email Sign In error message concern!

Let us know if you are using the OAuth Or Secure Mail Key to access your email through an app. For your PC, Windows 10 and the Windows Mail is compatible with OAuth which encrypts your username and password to protect your info from hackers and fraudsters. This is currently required, with the security enhancement of the AT&T Mail.

Check out more devices and apps that are OAuth compatible. Also, learn more about Creating A Secure Mail Key to avoid any email concerns, if your email program or app doesn't use the OAuth (Open Authentication) technology.

Let us know if this helps! Thank you for reaching out to the community!

The "known issue" is still happening with other users. Most of the time the AT&T Community Specialists act like they don't know this is a known issue and recommend things that do not work. What is the fix for this issue?  Why does it keep happening? I didn't create a secure mail key, but the user above said it didn't help her. I have been locked out of my sbcglobal.net email address account just on my android laptop running the latest update of Microsoft Edge (Version 100.0.1185.39 (Official build) (64-bit)) since yesterday, April 12, 2022. I have access on my two other android devices, a phone and a tablet.

@BVBV   The Secure Mail Key is only used if your device uses an email app.  If you use a web browser like Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc. then you continue to use your "regular" password.  Well, if it was working, that is.

Your assessment about the AT&T "support" people is spot on.  But I don't think they know any more about the cause than you or I do.  It's mind boggling that Yahoo has not been able to address this (and related) issues in months.

Same here. I just got a replacement phone from Asurion, S8. I cannot access my ATT/Currently.com Email from the app. I get the same 205.2 error code, and wind up in a continuous loop of logging in, until I get locked out. What gives?

I was able to get a resolution by calling AT&T tech support at 800-288-2020. They had it completely fixed in less than 5 minutes! Real person, real help!!

HeyAleta, thanks! The person I talked to said she had limited options and she gave me a number for the Digital Office Dept, 877-285-0144, which when you dial it just has a recording that to get help with ATT paid services such as DSL, Uverse, wireless, or internet services, please hang up and call 800-288-2020.  Then it disconnects the line, so just a dead end. I'm not an AT&T customer except that I use Yahoo email which was taken over by AT&T, so I guess she thought I could get help through that route.

I decided to call 800-288-2020 again and this time spoke to Michael who was aware of the issues, said even the employees were getting locked out of their accounts, it was being worked on, and then he worked behind the scenes to get a text to me with a temporary password. Said to use the password to get in, then change it, and wait 5 minutes after resetting it for the info to get to their system before using it to log in.

And it worked. For now.  Hope they fix the issues soon so we don't keep having the problem.

I have had the same issue with the error code for 2 months. made numerous calls into att and the last time I called a couple days ago they said they couldn't resolve the issue. I really hate to switch service providers but it appears that this has been ongoing since last year. I can get my emails on my phone and ipad but not my laptop. I have cleared cache/cookies and rebooted and changed my password numerous times and still the same problem. I will be forced to go with a different internet service provider if this isn't resolved soon. so frustrated!

So, after initially being told by an ATT Customer Service person to not select "stay logged in" after changing the password and logging back in, I found that if I reloaded my email page, it started to not let me log back in.  I decided to select "stay logged in" (after changing my password to get back in) and it has kept me logged in, even if I reload my email page. Not sure if this might change anything for you.

Also, I was having trouble initially with changing my password because at the www.att.com website where you access your profile, my last name and first name were inverted, so when changing the password, the prompt would ask for the last name, and it would be wrong until I saw the error at my profile.

In the "login loop" people have been talking about, I eventually got to an option for manual setup.  i did that.  The server settings were wrong so I changed them.  I used the client secure key, not my password.  This worked, I have mail on my phone now.
