Email to Setup Password Recovery Option for AT&T Email
Got an email asking for password recovery options for my AT&T email account - or else! I have an sbcglobal.net email account, and a yahoo.com email account. I have no idea if this is legit or what I am supposed to do, and if this is even applicable for me. I don't like the "or else" part, so can someone give me some guidance? Thank you!

At&T: Why the email validity confusion and the wireless phone number verification confusion? One would expect more, rather than less, from the world's largest telecommunications company by revenue...sigh.

Why aren't there other methods for recovery? I have no AT&T mobile phone number. As a matter of fact, I do not have a smart phone or a mobile phone at all. Many of my other online accounts provide more than one way for verification/identification: 1) voice (you get a voice phone call with the code, and this includes a landline phone call); 2) e-mail address on file (you get the code in your e-mail); 3) alternative e-mail address on file (you get the code in your alternative e-mail account). 4) mobile phone number on file (you get the code texted to you). Intuit/Turbo Tax, MetLife insurance, TIAA (a major, major retirement company), and Microsoft work this way. So, with these accounts, I get the code either by voice, by e-mail, or alternative e-mail. Why can't AT&T provide these options, too??

Got following
ATTENTION! Our records show you have not set up password recovery options for your AT&T email account.
Use this link to update your password recovery options.
Having this information on file protects your account from fraudulent activity and provides options to reset your password if needed.
AT&T requires this data to be available and without this information, we will not be able to assist you with a password reset or password related access to your account, which may result in you losing access to your account and data.
For additional information on how to maintain you

Recently received an email from ATT to update my account for the purposes of password recovery. Checking to see if it’s legit.

Has anyone had any progress from Att/Currently/Yahoo- with getting the dreaded "too many failed attempts" message when signing in to email- every other day or so...even though your password is correct and auto-filled. Then having to get a code or answer security questions- only to "change" your password to the exact same one- and having to change it on your phone and iPad! Def ready to hang it up with att.net and this email crap!

I am locked out of my att.net account, and I can’t imagine ever choosing the security questions that come up for me, so I don’t k ow the answers. Previous forum answers indicate I can get a temporary password sent to me, but I don’t see that as an option when I go to myat&t.com as directed. Help!!

AT&T blocked my sub account's email password, stating it may have been compromised which now makes accessing a failure. Now, there is no way to access the extremely important e mail account. Resetting the password is useless because they will only send the new password recovery to the one that they blocked, and I can't access. My primary email account is working fine but it won't let me edit the sub account's password, stating I don't have permission.
AT&T reps thus far either can't help me or hang up on me even though I am always friendly as can be with tech support. I've had this account 20 years or longer before the internet took off running when Prodigy and AOL were the pioneers. Now, I can't access it through no fault of my own.

My wife’s email is a sub account I created and for some reason her iPhone is asking to re-enter the password. Unfortunately we cannot remember the password, nor the answer(s) to the security questions. What other way can we reset the password so she can regain access to her emails? Please help.

I received an email from AT&T which says, "ATTENTION! Our records show you have not set up password recovery options for your AT&T email account."
I tried to add my personal AT&T cell phone number as a password recovery option, and I received this message:
"That number is already linked to another user ID. Choose another number." I don't see a way to identify what account that might be. We had linked separate AT&T accounts a while ago (i.e. landline, cell phone, email), so it doesn't seem like there should be another account using this number. Even if there were, why can't two separate accounts use the same recovery phone number?
I tried to add my work Verizon cell phone number, but the message states that only AT&T lines can be used for recovery.
I'm not sure which issue category to select, because this seems like a general account setting that isn't particular to any of the underlying services, so I'll take my best guess.
What's the next step? Thanks!
