Email: Set up password recovery options
I received an email stating that I needed to update my profile in order to have access to password recovery. I need to verify that this is a legitimate email.

We've got the tools you need, @CVernB99!
You can update the contact email for your user ID by following these steps:
In addition to that, you can assign a wireless number to your user ID. Keeping these details updated frequently is a good idea in the event that you become locked out of your account. Without having recovery options set up, you will be limited in your login options if you do get locked out.
Let us know if you have any questions!

We understand your concern regarding the security of your email account, @Claudden.
You can rest assure that the email is in fact a legitimate email sent out to inform you to update your recovery options.
If you are still uncomfortable with clicking on the link in your email, we recommend that you update your recovery options here.
Please reach back out if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Holy smokes! If this is truly a legit email, and I still have a huge amount of doubt, how incredibly stupid it is for AT&T to be sending this out right in the middle of similar sounding PHISHING scams flooding current customers.
@Claudden If you hover your mouse pointer over the link or button, does it show an obvious att.com link? Like a link to get to your Profile might look something like this....
https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/profile/overview
Oh, and BTW, the link ATTHelp Latoya doesn't work because it's not formed correctly, a somewhat common occurrence with their system.

This email is a disservice to what is left of the once good name of AT&T. I, too, felt this might be a phishing scam, particularly when viewing the request and the peculiar sender's address.
The email is dated November 4 and provides the first notice of a rule change effective October 31, 4 days earlier. It includes a threat that I may lose access to my account and data if I don't provide information, which I may have already provided.
The email contains no specific instructions on how to set up a password recovery option for my AT&T email account. The link for additional information from the forums and the 1-800 number are general links that leave you to research for yourself in trying to find an answer about how to do what is requested, or worse, how to find what may have already been set up. When opening My Profile, there is no specific section for email password recovery, but only sections for internet and wireless recovery.

The link looked legit, but I still had my doubts, so I called AT&T at a number I knew was reliable. The agent walked me through the security update.

I went in and updated it for all my AT&T emails. I can’t seem to log into this particular website on my PC though so I had to use my iPhone and I saw the instructions on what to do here. Any idea why I can’t access the AT&T forums? And yes I agree….AT&T should have sent out a link with instructions as stated above but not a link to click on. Last question: it seems that there is a way to also add a cell phone for additional protection but it says I already have that number affiliated with an account which ironically is my cell phone account. How can I fix this so that my 3 emails are also protected with my cell phone too?

We can help you access the Forums site from your phone, gladperez.
Clearing your browser cache and cookies can refresh the site and get it to load properly. We also recommend trying another browser. If you need further assistance, let us know.

The issue is not on my phone but my PC. I can’t access the forums on chrome, Firefox or Edge. I cleared all cookies and cache. I also deleted the ATT.com specific site as another article said to you. Still says access denied and I accessed it a few days ago. I have windows 10. Is there someone I can call for help? I also need help with my email recovery and linking to one cell phone. The number I have is 877.285.0113. Can someone help me if I call there? Takes over an hour on hold so just want to be certain before I call.

We can't guarantee that you'll get assistance by calling, but you're welcome to give it a try, gladperez.
For help with recovering your email, we need more details, such as what happens when you try to access it.
You can add a phone number to your email using the guide for setting up text messages for password resets.

I received 2 different AT&T emails at 2 different email addresses to update my profile & setup password recovery options. I did some searching to determine if either was legit.
I proceeded & signed into myAT&T and updated my Recovery Email and Verified it. Then Verified my User ID emails. This worked for all but one email.
All the profiles send a User ID verification code to the listed email address which I can access & get the code, except for one.
That one User ID won’t let me access its email until I provide a cell phone number. None of the profiles have cell numbers so I don’t know why this one acts different than the others.
How do I get past this screen without entering a cell number in order to finish verifying my User ID?
