Constant Password Reset

I have had to reset my password at least five times in the last eight days. I get an error message that reads to the effect of "we believe your account has been compromised, please select forgot password and reset." This is aggravating to say the least. I have to reset password on the laptop and then go to my iphone and update it every single time. Does anyone know what the issue is?

Hi there, kkterre. We understand that you having to reset password constantly. We can help you with that.

First, let's go through and clear the cache and cookies on the laptop. This will give your browser a clean slate to work with.

Next, reset your password one more time. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to your myAT&T Profile. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Scroll to Sign in info.
  3. Select Edit next to Password.
  4. Enter and save your password info.

After resetting your password, make sure that all email apps that you use has the updated password.

If you use any email clients or programs, make sure that you use the secure mail key. If you do not have a secure mail key, here is how you create one:

  1. Go to your myAT&T Profile. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Scroll to My linked accounts, select the email account that needs a secure mail key.
  3. Scroll to Secure mail key, select Manage secure mail key.
  4. Choose the email address that you’d like to use, if you have more than one.
  5. Select Add secure mail key. Enter a nickname for the secure mail key to make it easy to recognize.
  6. Choose Create secure mail key.
  7. Select Copy secure mail key to clipboard. Make a note of your secure mail key  for further updates.
    • For security purposes, the secure mail key only displays until you select OK
    • If you lose or forget the secure mail key, you can always create new secure mail keys.
  8. Select OK.
  9. Go to your preferred email app, replace the existing password with your secure mail key. For an IMAP account, delete the existing password for both the IMAP and SMTP servers. Replace them with your secure mail key.

The secure mail key is like a password, but there are some differences. It is longer and randomized, it can not be reset, and it doesn't expire.

Try these things above and let us know.
