care code 205.2

"Looks like you've tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times.  Recover your ID or reset your password to continue.  Care Code:  205.2"

Like many others who've posted comments to the AT&T online community forum, i have been in the circular reference nightmare of care code 205.2 when trying to log into my highspeed internet fiber account via the "MY ATT" app on my iphone or through the "sign in" portal via the ATT.COM website.  Disclaimer:  I NEVER merged my wireless account with my highspeed internet, the two accounts remain standalone.  I can't imagine what issues merging the two would be causing me over and above my care code 205.2 ones).

Anyways, after reading @Stradalite 's comments from today (7-19-2022), regarding the requirement for "reconfiguration of the profile settings" on ATT's end . . .  I called the NEWEST number for the Digital Assistance Center (1-877-285-0117, prompt 2) and a representative was able to "sync" my log in credentials (userid = my att.net email address) with my existing password.  While the rep remained on the line with me, we verified that I was able to log into both "MY ATT" app on the iphone AND via the ATT.COM website on a laptop.

Wanted to post my two cents in the event it would be of any help to any others who continue to be stuck inside the CARE CODE 205.2 nightmare.

Try to stay cool out there. . .

I am an AT&T customer (Internet, land line, email). I have no problem with my email on my iPhone. This problem with Care Code: 205.2 has been going on forever. On my desktop I logged into my account by resetting my password as was told by the sign in message received (see below).

”Looks like you've tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue. Care Code: 205.2”.

I was able to get signed in and do what I wanted once in. I then signed out.

I did not try to sign in again until today (several weeks later). I again received this Care Code: 205.2 message. It does this every time I sign out and then try to sign in later. I have the myAT&T app on my iPhone and I also have the same error. Yes I have the most current version. I have 2 sign in id’s and have the same problem with both.
This is EXTREMELY annoying! Every time I try to sign in I have the same problem.

What is causing this and when is it going to get fixed!

For the record I did clear my cache and cookies. When I received the error I tried iPhone browsers Safari and FireFox and used the myAT&T app. I also tried https://currently.att.yahoo.com/. I also tried https://currently.att.yahoo.com/ on my desktop. They all gave me the same error. I was forced to reset my password. I was then able to sign in. Hopefully 2 days from now it will still work, but I have my doubts.

Please fix soon.

Can a Secure Mail Key be used on the app or currently.att.yahoo.com?

We understand how upsetting this care code matter is for you, Sheman. We're working to find a solution to this as quickly as possible.

When it comes to the secure mail key, it is mainly used with email programs and apps that don’t use OAuth technology. We don't recommend using one, because the myAT&T app does use OAuth technology, and it's not necesary to log in to Currently.com.

If you would still like to create one, just use our guide on creating a secure mail key.

If you need assistance with anything else, we'll be here.

Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

Secure key will not help carecode 205.2 problem.  Att needs to reset email and issue temp password. Then you can sign in and change password. Problem solved!

If you click 'Keep me signed in' when entering password and don't sign out for longer than 2 weeks, it will happen again.

Thanks for the response.

Regardless of what is done, the error will still occur after a few days of not signing in. It has to do with all of the automated robot s trying to break into accounts. AT&T is working on a resulution.
