Care Code 205.2

At least once a week, I am logged out of my email account. When I try to log back in, I get this message:

"Looks like you've tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue. CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]"

This error message occurs the very first time I try to access my account. 

I absolutely do know my password, but it doesn't accept it.

The only way back in is to completely reset my password. Even when I do that, I can be logged out again within the next few days and have to reset my password again at that point. This has been going on for months! I've called AT&T Customer Service and have also tried using Chat. 

It's not a problem with cookies. 

What is the deal? Can it be fixed?

I have the same problem doesn't matter which device I use.  Cookies & cache cleared.  Frustrated and ready to give up the att.net/currently nightmare. I login and I logout.  Next day I cannot login and get the care code 205.2.  I have changed passwords and get in and 2 days later same error.  Will this be fixed?I will need to get off att.magic it cannot be relied upon.   Please??

ATT Aminah,  has there been any progress on fixing the ATT system glitch?

Search on Care Code: 205.2 [LU003] and check the #s of ATT customers dealing with this for the last 2+ years.

ATT starts with blaming the User and then gives a boilerplate fix that may not work. 

The best temp fix is to reset to the same password you knew was correct all along. 

If you get the 72 hour lockout, don't wait.  Call and have your account manually resynced.

It sounds like you are familiar with the problem, deknutson. It's a frustrating one. I have called AT&T--most recently two weeks ago--and had my account reset manually. That was supposed to solve the problem. But--here I am again.

I wonder if it's a problem with Chrome. I reset my password (again) this morning and was kicked out again within two hours. Then I logged in on another browser and it worked. Either way, it's getting old.

Same problem here.  AT&T offer no help whatsoever. My issue also comes with my email acting up multiple times daily.  It's a nightmare.

But at least I've collected a half dozen stars and have entered the 5th element!  If I get a few more stars can I trade them in for email that works and a login process that doesn't steal half my (Edited per community guidelines) day trying to get it all sorted?

If only it were that easy Steven.

First you have to recover four mystical stones essential for the defense of Earth against the impending attack of a malevolent cosmic entity.

Only then can you get an email that works.

(and even then it won't be an AT&T email account)

@tonydi - thank you for always being the comic relief I so badly need when losing my mind going on week 4 (5? 6? 7? - what is time?!) of this sh*t show and corresponding move in seeking help via the community forum. While I'd prefer you offer up some true hope or a diagnosis, it's becoming readily apparent that no one - yourself, nor the "experts" at AT&T "customer service" have that level of understanding to fix the inherent mess that AT&T has created.  But I do again thank you for the laugh.

@Steven_Bryan   I've got to try and lighten things up every once in a while because even though I'm not being affected by this issue, I keep wanting to pick up my keyboard and snap it in half every time ATTHelp posts the same crap over and over. 

Plus, it really bugs me that no matter how difficult this might be to fix, the fact that it's taken so long just makes no sense at all.  Even if it is "bad actors" there are plenty of ways to mitigate that because it's such a common type of attack.  Even the drones at Yahoo should be able to figure out how to implement them, yet here we are.

No, this was one of the bots that gets triggered by some sort of action in the thread.  But other bots that monitor the posts are just as brain dead (they censor vulgar words in the body of the post but allow the same words in the title or a username, they think the name of the big printer manufacturer that begins with the letter C needs to be censored, etc, etc, etc).
