Care Code 205.2
I keep getting error messages periodically after I reset my password. This has been an ongoing problem for a few months. I am getting tired of the constant resetting. What needs to be done to fix this? Thank you.

Let's get you logged back into your email, @chiggins007
If you're constantly getting a care code error when trying to sign in, the best steps you can take to resolve this problem is resetting your email password, and then immediately switching over your credentials in all of your email applications (outlook, apple mail, etc.) so that our servers aren't being pinged with incorrect login information.
You can reset your password easily by following these steps:
(You may even want to try clearing your email credentials in those applications first, just to stop them from trying to connect with incorrect information and potentially causing another care code error once you do reset your password).
Let us know how these steps work for you!

I have seen that response before. What if someone has my email address and keeps trying to hack into my account? Would that be a cause of the system saying I have tried too many times to logged into my account even though I am using the correct password?

Hi, @chiggins007!
Rest assured that if you are able to reset your password, your accuont is secured. You can clear your browsers cache and cookies as it's possible a browser setting is causing the error code to occur.
If you believe that you are a victim of malicious activity, you can take these various steps to protect your computer.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

Another reason I am hesitant in resetting my password once again is because I can still access my emails from my iPad and iPhone. So, am I really missing anything if I continue to bypass my desktop, where I am having the issues? There are some apps I can’t use because they go back to my ATT account since I have DIRECTV.

Let us explain why a password reset will help on computers, chiggins007.
We understand your hesitancy to reset your password. Let us explain why it is so important and why you are able to still use your iPad and Iphone.
Your iPad and iPhone uses what is called a Secure Mail Key. What that is used for is, for apps such as the Yahoo app and the Mail app. It's an additional security measure, that was created a few years ago by Yahoo themselves, which is the host of your email. You can find out more about Secure Mail Keys by reading over the information in this support article.
On computers, it is a different story. Without going into jargon, we will try to be as clear as we can. The web mail, currently.att.yahoo.com, doesn't use the Secure Mail Keys. They use passwords. Your password is tied to your AT&T profile. That profile password is what is needed to be changed or reset. So if you could, use the steps that we have previously posted.
To answer your question, no, you are not missing out on anything, if you do not reset your password for the web mail. That is perfectly ok.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach back out to us. We would love to hear them.
Thank you for using the AT&T Community Forums.

It is an AT&T problem. It is causing problems for MANY of us. Look at other threads concerning this issue.

schroeder_h is correct.
Search on Care Code: 205.2 [LU003] and check the #s of ATT customers dealing with this for the last 2+ years.
ATT starts with blaming the User and then gives a boilerplate fix that may not work.
The best temp fix is to reset to the same password you knew was correct all along.
If you get the 72 hour lockout, don't wait. Call and have your account manually resynced.

It just happened again. What is the actual telephone to ATT so I can get my account manually resynced?

Okay, I just got off the phone with Joe at ATT. He did resync my account so that I could reuse the same password. However, he said to NEVER check the box that asks if you want to stay signed in. He says it then becomes a browser issue because of the saved password. I hope he's right.

chiggins007 The response from Joe at ATT, suggesting you should not check the Stay Signed In box, is new to me. Has anybody heard this before?
Of course, you then have to sign in every time, so the solution could be even worse (if you're not locked out frequently).
PS I just went 2 months, without a problem, after calling in to get my account manually resynced. But, it happened again a few days ago. Resetting password to the same one I knew was right, has worked, as usual. The wild card is how long it lasts.
