Care Code 205.2 Error

I am locked out of my pacbell.net account. I keep getting a Care Code 205.2 error telling me I've tried to log in too many times. The problem is I never tried to login before my one attempt to sign on. I read some previous community posts about resetting my password but they didn't work. The system won't recognize my last name so I can't proceed to the login screen to click on Forgot my Password. Now what? Any suggestions?

Hello @rdwarior2! Thank you for reaching out to us! We understand that you're unable to log in to your email account and getting error code 205.2. We hear you, and happy to assist you.

The error code 205.2 means that you have logged into your AT&T mail too many times. As a result of one too many logins, the account gets locked and the error code is shown as a result.

We recommend that you reset your password because doing so will help to re-sync your account.

However, as you mentioned that you already tried resetting the password and that did not fix the issue. We recommend that you wait for 24-48 hours and then try resetting the password.

Let us know, how it goes.

For further assistance we're here to assist you.

Thank you

Nate:

I appreciate your getting back to me so quickly. The procedure you described is the one I have been following. I've waited 24-48 hours for the account to reset, then gone in and changed my password. Three days later I'm locked out again. Someone, not me, is trying to log into my account. They don't know my password so they get locked out.

What's even more frustrating is when this happens I'm asked for my last name as identification for account ownership. When I type it in I'm told it doesn't match and have to go through the 24-48 hour waiting period to log back in and change my password. When I do this I don't see a place to check what last name is on the account. Obviously it's not mine. Somehow the hacker(s) have either changed the last name associated with my account or made it so my account won't recognize my last name. How do I fix that? Is there someone I can call?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Nate:

Thanks for the follow up. I did call and start a case with tech support. I'm waiting to hear from them. If I don't hear from them in the next few days my next contact will be with the Feds. That's what I had to do to get this issue resolved the last time it happened.

Thanks again for your help.
