Cant access legacy att.net email account

I have forgotten my password, when I try and reset it I am prompted to answer security questions which I don't believe I ever set up.  I have had this email for about 15 years and have moved and changed phone numbers several times.  So I do not remember which telephone number or zip code might have been associated with my email if any at all.  I don't even recall using at&t service for anything other than email.  I access my email via yahoo.com.  Something odd to note is I can still see the last emails I received on my tablet which was back on June 29th 2020.  I am hoping this will find the right person that can assist in resetting my password and or unlocking my account.  Seems like this might be near impossible to get to the correct person being there is NO option related to email/login issues.

We can help get you access to your email account, @MichelleG

Even though you access your email through http://sm.att.com/6be8b33d, you will still manage the username and password resets at http://sm.att.com/ae57969d:

  1. Click on the Account dropdown
  2. Click Sign In
  3. Enter your email
  4. Follow Forgot Password steps

Typically, the steps provide several options for resetting including security questions, back up email, text with validated mobile number, or sometimes even standard mail.

We also have a full page dedicated to AT&T Mail Support.

Please let us know if these steps helped get your password reset.

We’re not sure if Michelle is still watching this thread, but we’d love to help, @lauradejonge.

If you’ve lost access to your email, you can typically regain it by resetting your password, as Meaghan mentioned above. A password reset fixes almost every type of sign in problem. If your email is linked to an ATT.com account, you can also sign in on ATT.com and reset your password there.

After resetting your password, if you're still having problems, try clearing the cache and cookies and relaunch your browser. There may be a corrupted file on your computer.

Also, can you clarify what you mean by “Facebook and Amazon will not recognize it?”

Let us know if you need additional help, @lauradejonge!

The forgot password steps do NOT offer any options other than the 2 security questions.  I tried currently.com and got the same result.  Also watched the video link on the page to reset the password and it says to go to att.com/ewpr.  This again took me to the same page with the security questions, which I never answered.

How can I get access to this 15 year old email account??????

Please help.

Michelle, Did you find out how to get the email to work?  I am having the same problem.  Facebook and Amazon will not recognize it.

I am having a similar issue.  I've reset the password but still cannot log in to my email.  I have a main account and two sub accounts. Yesterday I could access the main account but not the sub account and then . . .  just like that, I no longer could access the main account.  I have screenshots.  But all I get now is that I've tried too many times and there is no way to recover the email or reset the password.  I sometimes can get a verification code but it does no good.  I cannot access my email.  I need serious help yet there is no way to report this or to get assistance.  I did try calling the solutions center and was told to visit an ATT storefront as 'they have tools I don't have' and then implied I needed to verify my identity.  This is serious yet ATT doesn't seem to have any solutions that work.

A week ago I was asked to log in to my att.net email account and kept receiving Care Code 205.2, saying I had logged in too many times - this was false.  I called customer service and spent hours resetting passwords to no avail.  No one has had any answers.  Today I was transferred a couple of times and a rep said she would sent me an email with a temporary password, as I could still access the email account on my phone and tablet.  Voila, her email killed my access on both of these devices and prompted yet another request for a password change!  She had no explanation and I was transferred to yet another rep who told me that the only way to get a verbal new password was to confirm the ORIGINAL LANDLINE PHONE NUMBER that set up the original ATT account.  I gave her all of my landline numbers for the past 26 years and she said nothing came up, and then hung up.   So,  basically they are telling me and similar customers that you are just plain out of luck and that all of your email and contacts are now gone.  Is this just a purge of old legacy/att.net accounts, or are their software engineers changing things and not telling anyone what the solutions are?   This will require multiple resets of passwords for professional accounts, licenses as well as financial information.   What in the world is going on?

I have yahoo email, and I can not login. I used to login at www.AT&T.net, but I tried so many times to login and it directed me to www.att.com instead.

You've never been able to log in at AT&T.net.  The & sign is not a valid character for a domain name.

To get to an AT&T email login (att.net, sbcglobal.net, bellsouth.net, prodigy.net) you should be using currently.com

Same problem here.  Locked out of email for 5 days.  This seems to be a "lost" department in the ATT organization.

We want to get your email working again, @televet!

We suggest that you reset your password for your email, and wait a full 72 hours so that your email can properly sync.

At this time we are unable to reset any passwords, due to an ongoing trend in our department. Our engineers are working as fast as possible to get this fixed

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to reach back out.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.
