Cannot log in. Says too many attempts.
I have been trying to log into my email account for 2 days. Says too many attempts, although I've only tried about 5 times each day. My user name and password are correct. I can't log in to change the password. How can I change the password without logging in?

Keep in mind that they were hacked and bad actors keep trying to access the accounts as they have the info that goes along with them. There are some cases where folks changed their password and did not update it on their other devices so the other devices keep trying a bad password and locks you out.
For many others it's the bad actors with your account info try to access the account and it locks it after too many attempts.
In my case support gave a bad actor access to my account and let them reset my account password and pin code. They started change everything to a fake name and numbers. I lucked out and had reset my pin code before having support lock the account. I was then able to get back in with the pin code and reset the account.
I then changed the email account that manages the old AT&T account to a different outside email so they no longer have the correct email account to try a password with.

Since this is only a problem when using a browser and the Currently AT&T Mail web page (no issues with the Mail App on phones and tablets) I recommend using the BlueMail app for Windows Desktop instead. It works perfectly and I don't have to deal with that constant password reset issue anymore.

I got the same runaround with the "unsuccessful login attempts" when I tried to log in ONE time from my new desktop. Every once and while a log in fails (not just AT&T) and all they really want is for you to reconfirm who you are. Instead of saying so in a direct way they want you to reset your ID or password. Try the password reset first.
With AT&T I used my phone's app to reset the password using the same password as before and it worked on the phone. (So the issue is not your password but your identity via your device.) Then I logged back in using my desktop browser and this time they wanted to register my new pc by sending a text to the phone. So now I can access the online account as if nothing happened except that I wasted 30 minutes due their inability to communicate what they really, truly really wanted.
This may not work for everyone but this worked for me. Needless to say I had to do the same in order to post to the forum.
