Cannot access sbcglobal.net email account

I have an @sbcglobal.net email account. In late November, I purchased new ta­blet and after trying to add my email account on that device, I've been locked out of my email account and can do nothing to fix the problem. I've done everything from waiting 24 hours or several days betwe­en logins, to calling tech support who didn't assist me at all and stated that I needed to go to an AT&T store to reset it with no explanati­on, to clearing cach­e/cookies, using dif­ferent browsers and modes (incognito), spending hours reading through internet forums for solutions and nothing works. Most of the forum posts are old with fixes that are no longer available and the more recent posts from others in the same situation as I am typically lack any replies at all. I tried logging in fr­om myATT, Currently, and Yahoo! Mail only to be redirected to the same page with the same unsuccessf­ul outcome.

I'm only able to receive email messages from the account on one of my devices (a different tabl­et), but when I try to add it elsewhere, I'm getting error messages "Care Code: 205.2 [LU003]" and account locks. That tablet is older, howe­ver, and I had to up­grade to a newer dev­ice, so going back and forth between dev­ices is a temporary solution. I don't wa­nt to remove or adju­st any settings on the older tablet out of a fear that I will completely lose ac­cess to the email ac­count I've had for 15+ years. The password I entered was valid and it worked before this. I'm unable to reset the passwo­rd and the only option given is answering the two secu­rity questions, they are being rejected as wel­l. I get the "Hmm... that didn't work. Check your entries and try again." message over and over agai­n.​

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago, but was able to reset my password in less than an hour with assistance from tech support. They sent me a temporary password and I was able to successfully sign in. Is th­ere anything I can do to restore access to my email account or is it too late? It is so frustrating to go through this when I did nothing wrong in the first place. As stated earlier, this has been my primary email account for many years and its important that I am able to access it again. At this point, I'm begging and pleading for any assistance or some type of exception that will allow me back in. Please?

I probably should have asked this earlier. With the engineers being made aware of the issue, how long should I wait before attempting to sign in? I tried earlier and experienced the same issues I initially described. At this point, I'm fine with waiting a few days if it means being able to access my account again. Thanks.

As of now, we are recommending that our customers wait 72 hour from their last sign in attempt before attempting again.

I don't think anyone who posts in this forum can tell you when it's going to be fixed.  For so long ATTHelp offered NOHelp except to try something and wait 72 hrs, even though it was clear at the time that waiting was not a solution.

Someone from the Executive Care team commented in a different thread that it was a "third party" who had written some software that's didn't work the way it was supposed to.  I believe that is Yahoo, who actually runs the whole email service for AT&T. 

So when it's going to get fixed is anyone's guess.  Could be an hour from now, could be weeks or more.  It's just an inexcusable situation and should never have gone on as long as it has.

So I waited well beyond the 72 hour period and attempted to log in today. Nothing has changed and I'm still locked out of my email account. My password is still rejected and I can't reset it because I'm only given the option of answering the security questions, which are rejected as well. I didn't cause this to happen. One day it worked and then for no reason, I have been unable to do anything to get back in. It is now approaching two months that I've had this issue. I followed all the advice and there still hasn't been an effective solution to this issue. As I stated before, this has been my primary email account for years and its important that I'm able to access it again. What else can I do to fix this?

At this point all I can offer is a suggestion that you fill out the form HERE and wait for contact from someone on the Executive Care team at AT&T.  I'm not sure how long it takes for word to get to them.  There's an AT&T form that gets to the same group and they always get back to people within 24 hrs but that form is currently broken.  I don't know how much lag going through the govt gives.

Some people have gotten a good resolution, some claim otherwise and I'm not sure why.  If they can fix it for some it makes no sense that they can't fix it for all unless there are multiple issues at play here.

Good luck and come back and update this with the results, good or bad.

You're not alone! I have had this issue on my PC and Laptop where I keep being logged in for 2 weeks and then have to re-log in. This had always worked in the past. For the past 4 weeks thoug, I kept getting that same 205 code and couldn't get back to my email account. (This didn't affect my apple devices which keep me logged in without interruption). Went to the AT&T store twice for help and all they could do was to reset my password. Well, that only works for 2 weeks, and when I need to log back in I get the same  205 error code.

I'm sick and tired of this and decided to change to a different e-mail provider, even though it is a very time consuming procedure to make that change with all the sites, shops, banks, credit card companies etc. etc.
