Cannot access att.net e-mail via POP3 or IMAP
My att.net e-mail stopped working about two weeks ago. I can access e-mail via the web client but not with Outlook. I contacted Support and was told to use the following:
-----------------------------------------------------------
[Support] : Complete the Server Information:
Account Type - Select IMAP or POP3.
Incoming mail server - Enter imap.mail.att.net (IMAP) or inbound.att.net (POP3).
Outgoing mail server - Enter smtp.mail.att.net (IMAP) or outbound.att.net (POP3).
[Support] : Complete the Logon Information:
User Name - Enter your full email address.
Password - Enter or paste your secure mail key.
Check Remember password and Require logon using Secure Password Authentication.
[Support] : Select More Settings.
Complete Outgoing Server info:
Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
[Support] : Complete Advanced info:
Incoming server - Enter 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP3).
Use the following type of encrypted connection - Choose SSL.
Outgoing server - 465 (IMAP and POP3).
Use the following type of encrypted connection- Choose SSL.
Select OK and then Next. Outlook will test your account info. If everything passes, select Finish.
-----------------------------------------------------------
These settings matched what I had setup already. After much frustration and gyrations, I finally deleted the account entirely and recreated it. Now it's telling me that my credentials are invalid although I know that's not the case. How does one go about resetting the password for a POP3 account?

You probably need to create a new secure mail key. AT&T keeps doing this with no forewarning. I think creating a new secure mail key is always the solution...maybe. Really frustrating.

I did get a new secure mail key but it didn't help. ATT won't acknowledge that they did anything-obviously they did.

This is getting to be a pain keeping track of multiple log in credentials, like servers, email passwords, and mail keys.

Stopped working again for me about two days ago and then started working again. I guess it was a temporary outage. Of course, no notification from AT&T.

The pop3 server still does not work. AT&T did something to kill it. I have verified all settings several times and got a new key.
Nothing worked.

Mine worked for a few days and then stopped again. It would be nice if they would fix the pop3 server.
Looking like it was a mistake to start up with AT&T. Plenty of competition.
