Can no longer access any ATT email account on iPhone 6

Starting this week, when I try to use either the native email app or login directly through web browser to I cannot get connected.  When using the browser to access, I get the following message: "Something's gone wrong Let's try this again.  If you were using an app close this page. Otherwise start over."

When I try setting up new account on email app, it verifies account but then upon attempting log-in it says “Cannot Get Mail  The user name or password for “” is incorrect”.

BUT, when I log on from Windows 10 laptop – no problem at all, so password is correct.  This happens with each of my email accounts. I have:

  • Upgraded to secure key last year
  • Changed password
  • Cleared cache
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled account on email app
  • Tried both POP and IMAP settings

I am running ios 12.5.5 on an Apple iPhone 6

Hi FredF, we'd be glad to help you access your email on your iPhone 6.


When accessing your email via web browser, be sure to use Currently. It's the official website for AT&T email, so it shouldn't give you any trouble.


You'll also want to make sure that you're using the current version of Apple Mail. If your phone is too old to run the current version, we suggest reaching out to Apple to see what they suggest.


The fact that you're not having trouble accessing your email on your laptop running Windows 10 leads us to believe that this problem is specific to your device, so contacting Apple is a good next step.
