Bellsouth.net Email - Sign-in Help, Questions, and Answers

Troubleshooting Bellsouth & SBCGlobal Email Addresses

Announcement

AT&T is making your email experience more secure. A part of this change is a prompt requesting you re-enter your password which may affect your ability to sign-in to your email, especially if you cannot remember your password. You will find steps that will help you address your sign in woes. If you have a mail client, you may need to update your settings with our step-by-step guide. in order to access your email given the change.

Can’t sign in or Forgotten Password:

If you have a current AT&T internet account that is tied to your email, you can change or reset your password by performing the following:

  1. sign in to your AT&T account.
  2. Select Profile > myAT&T sign in Password.
  3. Enter and save your password information.

If you have a free email account, you can reset the password at our email reset page.

  1. Go to Forgot Password page.
  2. Enter your User Name/ email address.
  3. Enter your Last Name.
  4. Follow the prompts.

If you are unable to change your password using the steps above, please chat with us. Please note, if you are unable to verify the account, we will be unable to reset your password. Think about it this way, if someone contacted us pretending to be you and did not know the security questions, would you want them to have access?

Heads Up: If the last name on the record does not match, the password reset option may not work. If you have an old billing statement, please verify what name you used.

Afternoon.  I have a bellsouth.net email that was working ok up til a few days ago. I can log onto the att site and access emails normally using the password I have used for a while.  Live mail, outlook thunderbird and opera all fail to contact the server using the imap settings in your link above and either the password or the secure mail key I set up. specifically imap.mail.att.net/993 and smtp.mail.att.net/465 with ssl and outbound auth required. a gmail throwaway account i have works fine with the same settings (except gmail of course). Is there a way you can check my account for me?  I am out of ideas.  I tried the "yahoo.com" settings and the pop settings "inbound.att.net outbound.att.net"

I have not been able to access my bellsouth email from my mobile device(iphone) since September of 2017.  I thought it was the upgrade to ios 11 that was the problem, but another friend is having the same issue with her android and bellsouth email.  We both can access them from our computers just not from the mobiles.  I even tried from the mobile yahoo app and was again denied access due to "incorrect id or password."  I have deleted and readded the account many times.  I have used the properly suggested server settings.  I have talked with ATT via chat and they were unable to resolve the issue.  All advice circles back to deleting and readding the account and making sure the server settings are correct.  These are not the issue.  It's something outside of the user.  When will this issue be addressed?

Hello. Like some other posters I am having issues connecting to the outbound server (only) from my desktop outlook 2016 email client. I do receive messages on my alias account but I cannot reply neither initiate messages as the outbound server can't be reached.
This problem started 2 days ago.

I have tried testing all other alternatives (encryptions, ports, authentications, etc.) to no avail. Impossible to reach outbound server using the alias account that has worked well for the last 20 years. This is a legacy free email @bellsouth.net account.

Please advise.

Are the aliases still working on free email accounts?
I do not see any option anymore to add/change/remove aliases? My email alias can't send emails anymore. Can't connect to outbound server.
Please advise.

Roberto, if you find a solution please let me know. I also cannot send outbound messages with an account that has bellsouth.net and uses an alias.

brenda, it looks like ATT is not supporting aliases anymore. Take a look at the bottom of this page where it says "Note". This note appears to be an update?

How can you tell what date that page was either created or modified?
