Bellsouth.net Email - Sign-in Help, Questions, and Answers
Troubleshooting Bellsouth & SBCGlobal Email Addresses
Announcement
AT&T is making your email experience more secure. A part of this change is a prompt requesting you re-enter your password which may affect your ability to sign-in to your email, especially if you cannot remember your password. You will find steps that will help you address your sign in woes. If you have a mail client, you may need to update your settings with our step-by-step guide. in order to access your email given the change.
Can’t sign in or Forgotten Password:
If you have a current AT&T internet account that is tied to your email, you can change or reset your password by performing the following:
- sign in to your AT&T account.
- Select Profile > myAT&T sign in Password.
- Enter and save your password information.
If you have a free email account, you can reset the password at our email reset page.
- Go to Forgot Password page.
- Enter your User Name/ email address.
- Enter your Last Name.
- Follow the prompts.
If you are unable to change your password using the steps above, please chat with us. Please note, if you are unable to verify the account, we will be unable to reset your password. Think about it this way, if someone contacted us pretending to be you and did not know the security questions, would you want them to have access?
Heads Up: If the last name on the record does not match, the password reset option may not work. If you have an old billing statement, please verify what name you used.

We finally called the toll free help phone and customer support told us the account had been locked. After almost an hour of digging thru old phone numbers and email addresses we re-established access to our account, both with Thunderbird and via browser-based web access.
We saw a large number of "Mail Delivery Failure" notices, and upon examining them we discovered they included hyperlinks with the UN-ENCODED former password visible. We assume this means the account had been hacked.
We still have the issue of all the email that was stored in Thunderbird disappearing.

I have three "swbell.net" legacy accounts - the primary account and two sub-accounts. All three accounts are being actively accessed and receive and send emails without issues on iOS devices (iPhones and iPads). Two of the three accounts can be accessed through browser (IE and Chrome) Yahoo email. One sub-account cannot. Windows 10 email successfully set up two accounts, but not the problematic sub-account. Same with Outlook, even using manual settings to confirm the use of IMAP instead of POP. An attempt to sign into ATT.com with the problem account gets the following message: The user ID and password combination doesn't match any combination in our files. Select Forgot ID? or Forgot Password? below for further assistance. (LU100). Selecting the recover password option ends in a message that says there is not a secure way to recover the password and provides a number (xxx-xxx-2728) to call. The "Manage Sub-Accounts" page at ATT.com (https://www.att.com/olam/manageSubViewTab.myworld) shows both sub-accounts as active. Clicking on "Edit" for the problem sub-account has a "Set Personal Password" box at the bottom with the following message in yellow highlight - This Sub-Account is linked to an AT&T Access ID. You don't have permission to edit the password for this account. Because the problem sub-account can be currently accessed on two iOS devices for which no settings have been changed, the rejected password used for web access must be valid. Also - is there a place to change the passwords for each sub-account?

That's really intriguing.Yesterday, 9015/2017, I was told by an ATT tech to use inbound.att.net & outbound.att.net. She told me that ATT had told no one, not even the techs, that they are in the process of changing back to using ATT servers instead of Yahoo's, which you may remember that they did the reverse a few years ago. The techs only learned of it after getting so many customer calls & referring them upstairs. She said that this has been a problem since this July, & was told by the IT people that "it's being worked on." Like "Check's in the mail," huh? If one has a problem signing into yahoo mail, instead go to att.net which will take you to webmail. An interesting note on my problem is that it only occurs with my wife's email (an alias). I can still use ThunderBird for my email (primary). Just tried your imap settings. Didn't work, either, I just have to wait til ATT gets everything transferred & all their bugs squashed.

I have a Samsung Galaxy J36v. A month ago, I couldn't get in to my email on my phone, so Verizon helped me get some settings fixed. But now any email I send from my phone does not show up in my sent box on my computer, and vice versa. And any time I open an email in one location, it doesn't show up as read (non-bold) on the other location), even if I refresh the screens.
I have just about reached my frustration limit with anything related to AT&T. Everything has to be difficult.
Please help!

I have an email that was originally given to me by Bellsouth. However, I was eventually turned over to Yahoo.com and ATT. However my email has been portable. However, I cannot log-in to my email account. Yahoo mail does not recognize my email address.
