BellSouth Password Reset Issues

Hello,

I cannot access my BellSouth account. I no longer know my security questions since I created the account when I was a young teen. When trying to login I get the following error code: Care Code; 205.2[LU003].

I need to contact someone to reset my password. I have important things in my email. I can provide ID as verification if needed. Where I can submit such a request?

You can reset your password using security questions or a temporal password. To reset using a temporal password:

  1. Go to myAT&T.
  2. Select Forgot password.
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose temporary password and follow the prompts. we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

Here's another way you can reset your email password if you're still having trouble:

  1. Go to http://sm.att.com/21fc5eee.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

Please note that we won't be able to assist with resetting your email if you've forgotten your security questions. This is a precaution we have in place to protect our customer's security.

I cannot access my bellsouth.net email account.  When I click on Forgot My Password, I enter my email address and my last name and it tells me that doesn't match.  I have no idea why it's saying that.  I have cleared cookies and cache. Nothing is working.

I am receiving Care Code; 205.2[LU003

Care code 205.2 means you have logged into your account with too many failed attempts. We recommend waiting a full 24 hours before logging in again. After this, try resetting your password again to resync your account. We also have more information on how to troubleshoot your email. This has steps on how to reset your email password.

Thank you for your response.  I have not had failed attempts of logging in.  I am connected to the email address on my phone but cannot get into it on my computer.  I have tried for 5 days now.  When I try to reset my password it brings me to a screen asking for my user id which is my email address and then my last name.  It then tells me it doesn't match.  I don't have an AT&T account, just an old bellsouth email address.

This happened back in October and I spent an hour on the phone with a rep.  She couldn't figure it out.  She just made a temporary for me.

We recommend checking to be sure you are using the correct user ID to log in. Your user ID may not always be your email address. 

 

You can also change your email password on your phone if you are already logged in. To do this:

  1. Go to your Sign-in info.
  2. Select Change password.
  3. Enter and save your password information.

Try this steps and let us know if that helps or if you still need further assistance.

I cannot even get to the security questions.  It's telling me my userid and my last name is wrong. In this case my userid is my email address.

Since we won't be able to reset your password here in the Forums, you'll need to call our Customer Support team at 800-288-2020. Let them know that you're unable to log in to your free email and your user ID isn't being accepted.

I cannot reset my email password, and all it tells me to do is call the ATT at the  800 number and out all the people I have talked to, they cannot help. I have bills coming in on this email that I cannot pay.
