ATT Yahoo Email login fails ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED

I cannot access my AT&T Yahoo email account. My browser says the account needs to be re-activated by signing in, but trying to sign in puts me into a failure loop with the error message ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED after I enter my email address. My browser says "It looks like oidc.idp.clogin.att.com closed the connection". Now the same is happening on my mobile phone, so I no longer have email. HELP!

Hey there BarryThistle, we'd be glad to help you fix the website, so you can access your email.

A good place to start is by clearing your browser's cache and cookies. You can also do this for your smartphone. Sites change over time, and when they do, the files saved in your cache and cookies may conflict with what is actually coded on the site. Clearing it out ensures that your browser is using the settings designed for the website.

Also, if your cache is set to occupy a lot of space on your computer, the computer may get bogged down due to all the hard drive space being occupied.

We also suggest flushing the DNS cache if you're using a Windows computer. Sometimes the DNS becomes corrupt, and you can’t get some websites to load properly. Typically, a reboot of devices such as your router and the device having the issue should correct it.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open Run/Search “CMD” to launch command line and type the following:
  2. ipconfig /flushdns
  3. C:\> ipconfig /flushdns

You should see:

Windows IP Configuration

Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

C:\>

You can learn more about what could be causing the website not to load and how to resolve it with our article that covers website and browser issues.

Let us know if this helped or if you need further assistance!

Hey Aminah, I am having the same problem on my Mac. I've flushed my DNS, but still can't access my swbell.net email account. What else can I do? I am concerned that this keeps happening with my old SWBell email address, my oldest email account, and my primary email account on most services so it's important. What else can I do to stop losing access?

From the comments, this seems to be a common problem with AT&T email accounts since the split with Yahoo.
Thanks,

The error I receive is this:

Hmmm… can't reach this page

It looks like oidc.idp.clogin.att.com closed the connection

Try:

  • Checking the connection
  • Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED

Hello, BarryThistle.

We're in the process of investigating why the website isn't loading on Apple devices. We don't have an update at the moment, but we hope to have one soon. You can check in at a later time to see where we are.

If you need help with anything else in the meantime, let us know.
