Mail Contacts To Flash Drive

After loosing the ability to get into my email account for 29 days, I want some comfort that I have a portable back up.

So, I would greatly appreciate the steps to copy and the steps to export the to another mail service if locked out again

Given all that's been happening with the Yahoo/AT&T accounts this year I feel your best bet is to move to another provider rather than just having a backup.  You never know when you could get locked out completely with no way back in.

IF you can log into your email account at www.currently.com then one way to do this would be to set up a Gmail account.  Then in the Gmail Settings look for Accounts and Import and you'll see an Import option.

That will set up an automated system where it will copy all of your Yahoo/AT&T email, including folders, to your Gmail account.  It also has an option to copy over your Contact list.  It will continue to copy over any new emails that arrive in your Yahoo/AT&T account for 30 days.

We totally understand your fears about your email account @graybeard47. We can help you secure your email for easy access and recovery.

Thanks for your contribution @tonydi.

You can use the following security measures to protect, access, and recover your email account securely.

Login to your email using Currently from AT&T/Yahoo.

You can update your security questions and answers. This keeps your information updated in case you forget your password.

You can set up text messages for password resets. Follow the steps to get a text with your temporary password next time. It helps you recover your email by sending a temporary code.

You can also create a secure mail key or use Open Authentication (OAuth). You’ll need one to access your AT&T email from a desktop program or email app.

Let us know if this helps.

Reply to ATTHelp:

Due to an attempted breach of AT&T accounts, I was locked out in accessing my email for over a month. Tech Support seemed pretty much lost as to what to do and started to hang the solution on a letter that would have a particular site to enter a digital code. Well the site never functioned and any attempted help from Tech Support was nothing but constant disaster: Let it be known, I held no ill feelings in their attempts and told them so. They were shot gunning solutions in hopes that something would work. The higher levels were certainly not communicating with the service people that were being hammerd with backed up calls, also locked out of their accounts.

The letter mailing is a joke in itself. Its' letter date ran 1-2 days after tech requested it to be sent and another 5-7 working days to receive it-pathetic. The third letter received with still the unusable site but with a new digital code, worked without calling AT&T for assistance. I figured I had nothing to loose to review all the notes of the conversations with Tech and weed out the repeated errors. It worked.

Is what has been posted now, "the iron glad solution" Of not being Locked Out of my Email account due to AT&T and not myself???

Thank you

So in reference to the above , the Gmail Account is just duplicating and my current ATT Email account stays as it is??

Sorry--It seems too simple and good.

Yes, it copies what is currently there and then continues to copy anything new that comes in for another 30 days.  It used to be that you could run it again and get another 30 days but I don't know if that is still possible.

It's not really meant as a "backup" solution but rather as a way for someone to move away from the Yahoo/AT&T account into one that isn't run by a bunch of incompetent clowns. 🤡🤡🤡

So in your reply, my current Att Email account does stay in its' current usable state and a clone of it is created as a New Gmail account??  If so, it will give sufficient time to really feel comfortable of the change. Att as being incompetent clowns does pretty much states it all as this has not been the first time of having a large security breach.

If it is that simple, it will be a go.

Thank you

All correct, but please note that you must be able to access your Yahoo/AT&T email account because the Gmail process needs that access, too.  This won't work for anyone who is currently locked out and can't reset their password to get back in.

This worked. However, if you have time where you are not under the gun of being locked out of your prior email account (see earlier post) delete all you can on your various email titles going to your new Gmail Account. "Folders" started out to be transferred in a orderly manner. But Folders, Sent, Drafts, Inbox ended up being grouped all together, randomly. Contacts was transferred in tack. What a mess. However, something is better than nothing.

With this, I will keep the Gmail as a random reference source, sorting it out in numerous visits and labor through in keeping my ATT Email account alive.

The help is still very much appreciated.

Thank you

Interesting result you had there.  When I've used this in the past the folders didn't necessarily come over in order, probably something to do with size, but once they were all there in the "special" folder under your Yahoo/AT&T email name, they weren't all jumbled.  Not sure what to make of your situation.
