Lost autofill for contacts when composing email
All my contacts are there in "Contacts," but when I go to compose an email, there is no autofill. I can go to my contact list and select a name, and that will go into my "To" line, but I can't do it using the "Compose" option.

So you have zero auto-suggest entries, like if you start composing and type A, there are no a's and so on throughout the alphabet?
The auto-suggest list in Yahoo Mail is completely independent from your Contact list.
Lately it isn't unusual for one or both lists to just suddenly disappear, sometimes to return days or weeks later without you doing anything. IOW, it's just Yahoo being Yahoo.

Right. No matter what letter I type nothing comes up. But I can go to the "To" line, then go to my contact list, find the one or more I want, click on each contact, and the entire name /email address will appear on the "To" line. Then I can create and send an email. Quite annoying. This doesn't happen with my phone app or the yahoo email if I go through Windows platform.

Guess what -- I woke up this morning after pulling out most of my hair last night, and the autofill is working. I am pretty sure the problem was related to my restarting my router (and leaving it off for a minute). It was just too much of a coincidence that this problem happened right after that. The problem occurred a few weeks ago also, and that may have been after our electricity was out for a while (and therefore obviously the router and modem were off), although I don't remember for sure. I do recall that the events happened around the same time. Again, the autofill was gone but came back. PHEW

BUT I can't add a new contact. It looks like I've followed all the steps, and I get a popup that says "contact created," but then his name will not autofill in the "To" line. Just when I thought this issue was behind me.

Let's check.....today is Friday, Friday is a day that ends in "y".....yep, checks out, it's a Yahoo problem.
As I said earlier, this sort of stuff has been an ongoing issue, not just with contacts and auto-suggest, but even with folders full of email that disappear and then reappear sometime later.
Some have gotten results just by logging out and back in, but most of the time it resolves (presuming it does resolve) all on its own. Hopefully the contacts thing will as well.
Word to the wise, make sure you EXPORT your contact list and save the file. If the worst happens and Yahoo nukes them all at least you can import the list back in if they don't come back.

Hi Tony,
That was funny!
This is so strange. I have my att/yahoo email account in several different places on my phone and my computer. The new contact I tried to put in on the "currently" yahoo is now showing up in my Windows email (same email address) and on at least one of the phone apps I use with the same email. But it is not in the original place where I added it.
I just hate to give up this email account because it is the only one I have ever been able to get that uses my exact name -- first and last with no extra numbers, dots, or extraneous material. Plus I have used it for so many years it is the email that all my friends and business contacts use. Although I must say I don't use email much with friends anymore, mostly text, thank God.
I got this email address when I had att internet many years ago, and was surprised (and grateful) that they let me keep the email even after dumping them.
Thanks for your comments.

I have always been able to just start typing a name in the "To" space... and address suggestions would appear. My contacts are all still listed, but it has stopped working. Yahoo Mail, Sbcglobal.net email address. Still works on my Android mobile phone... but does not when composing email on my Windows 10 PC.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction to fix this issue. Thanks!
Bill
