In the past week my Yahoo mail has stopped auto filling my email contacts and many of my contacts have gone missing

Out of the blue my mail stopped filling in people's email addresses. A list I use frequently went away also and I am having trouble rebuilding it. Some of the individual contacts I can select and add to the list others it won't accept. I have deleted and reentered the contact with the same results. The autofill feature not working is the biggest pain. I can't find anything online that addresses this issue.

Hi there, @peracer . Thanks for coming back.

The contact/email address fill-in, it is not actually a part of the AT&T/Yahoo webmail, but some users have tried the following with success:

  • Log out of the webmail.
  • Log back into the webmail.
  • Switch to Classic View(its on the left side column)
  • Click compose.
  • Try the predictive email address fill-in.
  • Switch back to "New Mail"(its over on the right hand side of the horizontal line,)
  • When the page changes delete the draft email that is being held in the draft folder.
  • Click compose and try the predictive email address fill-in again.

What is happening is the concern actually lies with contact list. This should resolve both the contact list and autofill in or the predictive email address fill in.

We have been getting some resolutions from these steps.

Try these steps and get back to us.

Hi, @BPCrutch507, we would be more than happy to assist looking into restoring your contacts.

Generally, you can restore individual contacts you deleted in the past 30 days.

  1. Select Contacts  (it’s to the right of your inbox).
  2. Select Deleted Contacts.
  3. Check the box beside each contact to restore.
  4. Select Restore and then to confirm, select Restore again. The contacts are returned to your AT&T Contacts.
  5. Select Done.

To prevent this from happening again, make sure you've reset your password, as well as updated security questions and answers.  We also have a variety of tips regarding account security.

Please let us know if you need additional assistance regarding this.

Email provided via "Currently from ATT and Yahoo mail."
"Contacts" icon is depicted immediately right of Inbox followed by icons Calendar, Notepad, Help, & Settings.

Regret, unable to locate a selection "Delete Contacts."

Where else might I find it?

Thanks for getting back to us, BPCrutch507.

To get the page to load the steps correctly, we recommend that you troubleshoot your browser by clearing the cache and cookies. Sites change over time, and when they do, the files saved in your cache and cookies may conflict with what's actually coded on the site. Clearing it out ensures that your browser is using the settings designed for the website.

Hi there, BPCrutch507. We understand that you are trying to delete contacts from your AT&T webmail. We can help you with that.

From a user standpoint, deleting contacts should follow these simple steps:

  1. From AT&T Mail, click the Contacts icon .
  2. Click the All tab.
  3. Click on the contact's name.
  4. Click the More options icon. | Delete contact.
  5. Click OK to confirm you want the contact deleted.

The reason why we are providing the steps this way, as the steps are from our email portal partner, and this is what they have said.

Try that and let us know.

Hi there, peracer. We understand that you are not able to use the contact/email address fill in process. We can help you with that.

According to the information that we have about the contact/email address fill-in, it is not actually a part of the AT&T/Yahoo webmail. It is actually provided to you by the browser itself. Let's look at some things that you can do to resolve browser concerns.

  1. You can clear the cache and cookies of the browser. That article will give you the step-by-step instructions for most common browsers.
  2. Depending on what browser you are using, there is an feature that is called either "private browsing or incognito". Try that.
  3. Toggle between "Classic and new AT&T/Yahoo email boxes.

Try those things to see if the automatic fill in process comes. If not, please see if you can duplicate the concern with another browser and let us know.

I cleared the cache and cookies and tried a different browser, Chrome, with the same result.  Nothing will automatically populate when I start to compose an email.

We're here to help you add contacts to your email list, @Ron_A!

Try the steps listed on this Yahoo help article for adding contacts to your email list

Along with trying those steps can you let us know if are receiving an error when trying to add the contact to the list? Depending on the error, we may need to alter the troubleshooting for this.

Let us know if the article above helps!

Let's get those emails restored for you, @brianjharris.

You can try these steps to either restore individual or all your email contacts:

Restore individual email contacts

Generally, you can restore individual contacts you deleted in the past 30 days.
  1. Select Contacts  (it’s to the right of your inbox).
  2. Select Deleted Contacts.
  3. Check the box beside each contact to restore.
  4. Select Restore and then to confirm, select Restore again. The contacts are returned to your AT&T Contacts.
  5. Select Done.

Restore all email contacts

If you can’t find the contacts you're looking for in Deleted Contacts, you can restore your full list of contacts.

Good to know: If you choose to restore all your contacts, you'll restore them from a backup from a particular date. If you’ve added new contacts since the backup, you’ll lose them. Before you try to restore your contacts, back up your current list by exporting them.

To restore all of your contacts:
  1. Select Contacts  and then Deleted Contacts.
  2. Choose Restore from backup.
  3. Select the date and time you want to restore your contacts to. If there isn't a list of dates available, we couldn't find any contacts from your address book to restore.
  4. Select Restore. You’ll see a confirmation if your contacts were restored successfully.

Let us know if the steps above help your situation.

I am having the same issues that @peracer is having with Yahoo mail. I tried the steps outlined above but nothing changed. Do you have any other suggestions?

Never mind - I missed the step about incognito viewing on Chrome, and that made the difference! Thanks!
