Announcement: If you received an email to set up password recovery options for your AT&T Mail account, it is the real deal from AT&T. If you find out that you cannot remember your email or password, we have solutions for you below.

Top 3 Email Solutions

Using a client? Can't Sign In? Yahoo.com vs Currently.com
If you are having a hard time using your client, you may need to set up AT&T's New Security Feature to sign-in. You can also check your mail via a browser. Sometimes we forget our passwords and enter the wrong ones. Resetting your password is one of the fastest ways to get back into your account.  If you are routed to AT&T's Sign-in, this is normal. Just use your att.net, sbcglobal.net, or bellsouth.net as normal.
Learn about Oauth and Secure Mail Key and compatible clients Make sure you are using the right ID. Find it now. Still having trouble? Using a different browser or clear cache and cookies

If you are still having issues with loading the login page, go to currently.com and click on the mail icon at the top right.

WebMail and Features Troubleshooting

Heads Up: Using different emails on one browser may cause issues when attempting to sign in. You may need to clear cache and cookies each time you sign into a different email. A fix may be using different browsers for each email like Safari, IE, and Chrome.

Have the right browser

Internet Explorer and/ or a Microsoft Edge browser older than 15.x, you will need to upgrade your browser to a supported browser. If you’re using Firefox, Chrome, and/or a Mac-based browser, just sit back, and relax.

Can you keep your email?

In short, yes you can! Our Free Email FAQs page has more information and things you need to know. Please check out the terms and conditions page for more information.

Email Not Going Where It Is Supposed To?

  • Is Your Email Going Into Spam? Trash? Another Folder? - check the rules in webmail to make sure nothing is set up to forward

  • Hacked Email - If your email account was compromised, rules may have been set up without your knowledge.

  • 3rd Party Browsers - If you are using a 3rd party mailbox like Outlook, disable it to make sure that the mailbox is not causing the issues

  • Check spam. Sometimes email gets routed there in error.
  • Not getting an email from another web service? Sometimes issues on their end can prevent it from making it to us. In some instances, they will need to contact the email provider.
  • Sometimes non-AT&T emails are blocked for spam. If this is done in error, check out our AT&T Postmaster Support page.

Note: Some 3rd party mail apps have been known to cause issues and send mail into trash. We highly recommend discontinuing the use of the app and using the Yahoo Mail App.

3rd Party Mailbox - (Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird)

You may need to update your client to work with Oauth. You will find step-by-step solutions on our Client Setup Page. You'll find solutions below for generic client issues:

  • Test using webmail - If you are able to sign in to your email via the web, the issue points to the app or mailbox you are using.

  • Mailboxes - we recommend using the latest version. Updates and changes may prevent it from working properly.

  • Rebuild Mailbox profile - In some instances, rebuilding the profile fixes some issues. You may lose email doing this

  • Change your settings from POP to IMAP

  • Client issues - If you are using POP, you must now use IMAP. There was a recent change, this article will explain further

  • Multiple Email, One Client - Please note, each email requires either a secure key or OAuth to be set up.  Check out Microsoft's support page on how to set up multiple emails
  • Reset your secure key - this has helped resolve issues in the past, especially when signing into another client or troubleshooting your current one.
  • AT&T does not officially support or troubleshoot mailboxes/ clients like Outlook

Note: For those of you using Evolution and having issues sending email, go into setting and find Disable Settings For All POP3 Extensions and select it.

Having trouble with Outlook, check out this thread from one of our community members.

Spellcheck

The spellcheck feature is no longer supported via webmail and now defaults to the browser spell check option.

We're here to help, @Stevenpa806.

Have you tried logging in on another device? Are you logging in using a web browser or an email app?

We recommend login in on another device or use another web browser. Also clear cache and cookies on your device before logging in.

Let us know if this helps.

It's 9:40 PM California Time...11-12-2020...I created 2 email accounts...they work when using ATT Mail...but not working with either Outlook 2010 or Thunderbird...I checked all settings for both email clients...all settings are where they're supposed to be...I triple checked to make sure the passwords were correct...as well as the email addresses I chose...

Could it be that ATT email servers are having issues tonight, in California and/or elsewhere, possibly?

The email address another household member uses is working fine...just added it yesterday...I did nothing different setting up that email address...

When using Thunderbird I disable Outlook 2010 so as to cause a conflict...so it's not a conflict issue...

Also...a neighbor who also has ATT is having the same exact issue as me...he uses Outlook 2010 as well...

Something isn't working is all I know at this point...my internet connection is working fine...I'm able to do everything else I do online...

Anybody having this issue?

Aloha!

We're here to help with your email, @nwair.

Have you created a secure mail key for these email accounts?

Due to enhanced the security of AT&T Mail, you’ll have to use either OAuth or a secure mail key to get your email through an app such as outlook.

Try this and let us know if it helps or if you need further assistance.

current settings:

IMAP: imap.mail.yahoo.com

SMTP: smtp.att.yahoo.com

Receiving emails ok until 11/12/2020 mid-day.

Have there been problems connecting to the servers?

I have the same problem and it started approximately 2:30pm on November 12th.

Outlook error codes 0x800CCC0E and 0x800CCC0F : The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your Internet Service Provider.

I use two email addresses on att.net. One stopped working and the other works OK. I did nothing in my settings...it just happened. I changed the password on line in the ATT accounts section for that address and can get send/receive email when going into the ATT online account section and using my iphone, but not on my computers for that one account. Everything is the same in the setup between my two email addresses on the computers. I think it is on the ATT side.

Message says "An error occurred while sending mail, mail server responded, request failed, mailbox unavailable. Please verify your email address is correct in your mail preferences and try again"

What to do?

Had same issue last night with second email @sbcglobal.net account failed to work anymore in outlook. I'm wondering if there is an alias server that stopped working. Can't reach AT&T help by phone. Account will not test successfully in outlook. Fails inbound and outbound. But I am able to login to mail.yahoo.com and access it just fine.

I have four email accounts.  All are set up as directed with IMAP settings.  Two of the four stopped working two days ago, and I get the error in outlook that "We couldn't log on to the incoming (IMAP) server.  Please check your email address and password are correct."  I can log into att web mail with that email and password, so I know they are good.  I tried changing the password, but that did not change the error in Outlook.  Please help.

Same problem here with prodigy.net account (pop/smtp) that was with ATT.  It quit working yesterday mid afternoon and haven't been able to fix.  Tried changing password at att but didn't help.  I can still access my prodigy.net through the currently.att.yahoo website but my prodigy email quit downloading to both my outlook and my android phone.  Att must have changed something that we're not aware of.  I have two imap/smtp email accounts that are still working- thank the Lord!

The solution is to log onto MYATT and create a Secure Key password. The same thing happened to me yesterday as everyone else here and as soon as I entered my Secure Key password (which I had created last year), a days worth of email instantly started downloading and it's been working reliably ever since.

I suspect that AT&T terminated use of the regular, user specified password and simply didn't notify anyone that they were going to do it.

Sigh

I have this same issue on my iPhone since yesterday evening (around 7:45 PM on 11/13/2020).  Haven't been able to refresh since then.  I can view e-mail from a web browser on my desktop, but I don't typically carry my desktop around with me :-p

My last e-mail received in Thunderbird (Windows 10 2004 64-bit) was 1:16 yesterday (Nov 12) afternoon CST.  I cannot send nor receive mail.  Send: "Login to server outbound.att.net with username [email scrubbed] failed."  Receive: "Sending of password for user [email scrubbed] did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later."

I am able to use my e-mail password to get to the web-based mail, so I know that my password is correct.

As a side issue, I tried to login to this forum last night, and the web site would not accept my password.  I tried twice "Forget your password?", and I was told that reset instructions had been e-mailed to me.  I do not see any of those mails in my web-based inbox.  And this morning I used the same password to access this forum, and it succeeded.  I have no idea what happened last night with my forum login attempts.

And now I cannot post because the `Category" bars have spinning circles and "Loading..." messages (in Firefox but OK in Chrome)

Same (similar) problem and program and time frame...

Windows 7 actually.

"Sending of password for user [email scrubbed] did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later."

Definitely some problems on their end. Two of my subaccounts have no problem, but a third stopped working with an enter password prompt on both Android & Windows clients. Password had not changed and I could access webmail with no problem. Subsequently changing my password did not work either. Finally, I created a NEW subaccount and this too has the same problem, it won't authenticate over imap, pop, or smtp but web access is fine.

Not certain it's AT&T. Thunderbird said it had an update a few days ago, which I immediately installed, and mail worked. The next day there was again a Thunderbird update available which I installed. Fairly sure mail quit working after that update. Windows 10 pro 64, e-mail accounts @att.net (POP), @frontier.com (IMAP) and @sbcglobal.net (main account, POP). The first two I've let Windows manage the passwords, I always enter the password for the main account. The first two work fine, main account gives the "Sending of password ..." error. Web interface works fine.

Awesome - worked! Though I'd prefer to manually enter my password each time, I'm going to have to let Thunderbird 'remember' this one!

On Nov 12, 2020 I can no longer access my email on either my Kindle Fire or Iphone (7).

I can access it on my laptop or logging in through any webservice on both my Iphone & Kindle

When trying to access through "Mail" on eitherIphone or Kindle it says "Message from your email provider:  Email address or password incorrect"   They are correct..

any ideas what going on?  Both devices are up to date on Updates.

Thank you

B L.

There is another topic that is similar regarding the imap server.  I have had this same issue since yesterday evening on my iPhone

Abruptly, as of yesterday in the middle of the day, I can no longer receive email on my iphone. The message I receive is "Cannot get mail, no password provided." At settings, I reenter the password, and as if it doesn't recognize I have done that, the message asks again for a password, which it doesn’t recognize.  I still am able to receive email on my ipad and computer (same email and password) so it seems to be a problem with the iphone.  From my iphone, if I go to the yahoo mail website, I can log in (same email and password) and I can receive all my mail.

I notice the correct server hostname for incoming mail is “imap.mail.yahoo.com.”  On my iphone it is “imap.mail.att.net” and the outgoing server host name is “smtp.mail.yahoo.com” whereas on my iphone it is “smtp.mail.att.net.” Could that be causing my issue?

I have been using my bellsouth.net email for many many years and recently a FEW years at least, in Office 365.  Yesterday the email stopped sending and receiving, although I can check my email on the server at yahoo.com.

Can someone please help or maybe tell me the server setting/what I did wrong?
