email connection keeps timing out
After logging in to my AT&T sbcglobal.net account, it times out after about an hour (and doesn't save a draft of the email I was typing). This has been going on for over a week. I've tried different browsers, I've checked the box "Keep me signed in" -- I'm stumped. Any ideas on how to solve this???

I think you've figured out what's going on -- Yahoo servers hitting capacity and timing out. I never heard back from the AT&T employee who said he would help... so I'm switching email accounts.

Has anyone had this issue resolved? It's very frustrating to create an email and attempt to add attachments only to have it fail. It's apparent that everyone is having the issue, so seems like they would attempt to resolve it.

I keep having the acct verification screen come up and when I put my number in to verify, it comes back with an error saying it's them not me but nothing has been fixed yet. Then I am timing out in approx 15 minutes or less - never enough time to even read and respond to my emails. I don't expect ATT to care after we've all seen the company they've become. I have to laugh. They recently put fiber in our area and think people want to buy their service when they can't even deliver on providing a working email account!

Both of my email accounts are with SBCGlobal . net and I sign-in from Currently . com (my home page). Both get timed out in exactly 1 hour with no warning. If in the middle of writing an email it will let you keep typing for several hours but won't save it. This has been happening for about 2 months, around the time the sign-in screen changed if my memory is correct. I changed the passwords, cleared the cookies, etc., etc. etc. It has forced me to write my drafts in Word and then copy and paste into email and send it immediately. I also have a Yahoo account that doesn't do this. I sign in to it from Yahoo . com

I've done everything you said. I finally switched almost everything to my gmail account. And I never heard back from the AT&T rep that I connected with here...

i have an explanation for the reason Yahoo doesn't timeout... i also have a Yahoo account and as mentioned above it DOES NOT time out. If you are familiar with cell towers and how they operate i suspect this is a very parallel situation. For example if you are bouncing off a Verizon tower your call may be dropped if you are not a Verizon customer. Verizon rents out usage to other carriers BUT if the call traffic hit limits , the Verizon customers stay connected while those carriers renting tower call pass through will have calls dropped. The explanation given me was that AT&T is paying Yahoo to have the AT&T emails handled through Yahoo servers....same situation the Yahoo servers have been programmed to limit AT&T use so Yahoo needs more servers and that costs money , big money to buy and to program the new servers and of course need more IT techs to manage so as AT&T account holders we are out in the cold until such time as more servers are brought online and more IT techs are hired at Yahoo. this is what i imagine is the simple explanation having worked as an IT tech for a fortune 500 company for 12 yrs...we just screwed

You would think someone would at least come up with the idea of posting a warning that your session will time out soon so you can save whatever it is you are working on.

Both of my SBCGlobal email accounts seem to be working. Last night one of them was open for 3 hours without timing out. Today both accounts stayed open for over 90 minutes before I signed out. Keeping fingers crossed.

My sbc global account finally stayed open beyond an hour today and yesterday, after 2+ months' of living (Edited per community guidelines). But I'm still going to keep my gmail account as my primary one... I don't trust AT&T and don't want to go through this .again... :)

I've been staying signed-in for several hours at a time and have had no problems for over 3 days but hold my breath every time I come back to check my mail after doing other stuff. It's hard to type with your fingers crossed. Best wishes for good results for you with Gmail.
