To set up U-verse online account do I need to use AT&T email address?

Just started to use U-verse that includes TV, Internet & Home Phone. My question is this:

In order to set up online account, do I have to be using AT&T email address (like sbcglobal.net) for Internet, or can I use gmail instead that I like much better?

You will get a new ATT.NET e-mail account.  You will use its address as an account ID for various U-verse functions.  However, if you're like me, you can ignore the actual e-mail box.

Thank you very much for your quick response. Now I know what AT&T Uverse wants.

No need for ATT email, just use your sbcglobal profile and nothing will change.  That's what i did 7+ years ago when I got Uverse.

Of course I did the initial verification myself, when Joe the installer was putting in the DVR.  It just asked if I wanted to use my sbcglobal profile and everything stayed the same.  ID, email address and password all were the same. 😉

Different situation, though.  You already had an "AT&T" account with an sbcglobal address.  He has a Gmail account; that's not an "AT&T" account.

Regardless, he just wants to continue to use his gmail.com account, which many here would advocate anyway.
