Solved: Outlook rejected password; need secure key but couldn't access AT&T pages to create a security key for AT&T email accounts
When you need to get a security key for email to work with outlook or some other mail app, you need to access your profile. You can access this directly from logging in to http://att.net or from mail.yahoo.com when you are logged in, with similar links.
At att.net, log in. Then choose "Account" top right then choose "Manage profile."
At yahoo.com, click the dots icon to the top right for settings, or click on the gear icon to the far right. Continue with links:
AT&T Account Settings
Then from the AT&T page, choose "All Personal Internet or Email accounts"
Important Note: if at this point, the at&t webpage ends up looping or locking up, try logging in from a different browser or use a browser from your android or iphone device.
I wasted so much time using browsers that weren't compatible. Worked on my android phone browser and I finally tried MS Edge on my PC I rarely use, and it worked!
If you have made it this far, either from AT&T or from yahoo, next, click "Profile."
Suggestion: Add your phone no if you haven't already. That might not work; I got the code but it was rejected even after I requested another code. But then it turned out I had already set it some time ago and the error message did not convey that to me.
Then select "Manage secure mail key" at the bottom of the list to create a new mail key to use instead of a password.
This works like a charm when having trouble with MS Outlook being unable to send/receive at&t emails.
