Revisiting mass deletions of emails in ATT Mail
Searched for results of using "advanced search and deletion" to find the 1000's of emails that I want to delete from my inbox doesn't work in today's Yahoo Mail. Is there no way to login on a cli, access my mailbox with something like mail or mailx, and let me delete the emails? I have years worth of emails to dump and no simple way to do it. right click on inbox and tell it to clean your inbox fails because it wants to archive the email and the archiving fails so that's useless! Bleah!

I don't know why the search/delete webmail operation isn't working. More "quality" yahoo programming maybe. But there is no way to access the webmail mailboxes other than using the webmail or using a email client app (e.g., Thunderbird, Outlook, mobile email client apps, etc.). Use a client with the account configured as IMAP and the webmail (servers) will create and populate the client's folders. Could take quite a while though with 1000's of emails. Once completed delete the stuff in the client (again could take quite some time) and that will delete them from the server (webmail). After that you might want to consider just using the client for your email access instead of the webmail.
Note, just in case, the email client server settings are documented here.
