Receiving ATT email through Outlook 365

I have been talking to Microsoft for almost a year about the problems we have been having receiving mail that is ATT, Yahoo based through the server and into Outlook.  We have tried hundreds of fixes that do not work.  The send/receive feature always locks up and emails cannot be sent or received that use the ATT IMAP server.  Does anyone have any suggestions that work.  We have tried all currently available online solutions without any luck.

I need to add to my posting that ATT email works perfectly through the ATT.net webmail.  We only have this problem with outlook 365.  We use Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2016 with all the same settings on many older computers and we have no problem whatsoever.  Thousands of people have this same issue from what I have seen online.  If anyone has a suggestion it would be appreciated.  Thanks.

We'd be glad to assist you with your email, J2021SCA.

We suggest following the troubleshooting steps listed in our Login and Email Solutions guide. The section titled 3rd Party Mailbox - (Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird) is where you'll need to begin.

Please keep in mind that AT&T does not officially support or troubleshoot mailboxes/clients such as Outlook. Since your email works just fine through the official AT&T email website, there's only so much we can do to improve your experience when using Outlook.

Thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums team. If you need help with anything else, let us know.

Thanks ATT but all those tips are very vanilla and I have tried them all to no avail.  I was hoping someone on the forum was able to fix this problem and had an answer.

Have you tried creating a Secure Mail Key and using it in place of your password when configuring your account?  I can't tell if "I have tried them all " includes Secure Mail Key, although if your other versions of Outlook are working, then it stands to reason that you have used the Secure Mail Key with them.

You also haven't mentioned if you're getting any kind of message when it fails.  Since this is working with Outlook 2010/2016 and not working with Outlook 365, perhaps Microsoft's Outlook Hosting organization would be able to provide at least more insight into what is failing (e.g. if you're not getting any useful error messages, perhaps they can provide them).

Thanks for your comment.  I do not get any error messages.  I use secure mail keys on all my outlook platforms.  I have transmitted the outlook logs to Microsoft on more than one occasion for their analysis.  They recommend the same time worn ideas that everyone tries on the various forums, yet none of these work.  I have combed through the recommendations on line and there are thousands of people that have this same issue.  I am reaching out to ATT forum because even though MS wrote and sells outlook they don't seem to understand why this is a problem nor how to correct it.  I am hoping that some other user has figured it out.  Let me also mention that sometimes the program will work flawlessly for a few hours or more but 90% of the time it locks up while attempting to send/receive.  It will always receive as soon as I open the program the first time.  Then I have to shut it down to send any emails I generate by restarting it.  They will send as soon as it is opened.  Then it locks up again.

Good chance Microsoft has a problem but oddly some users of ATT mail report that their Outlook works.  I am not a software engineer but I suspect the issue is with Microsoft.   I have practically given up on their support and hence was trying to see if someone else knew of a potential workaround.  Doesn't sound promising.

It happens on all computers that have IMAP server ATT mail addresses and use Outlook 365 where the user has and IMAP address and an outlook exchange address configured in the same account.  MS says that however should work.  I am testing on one machine where I have configured a profile with an IMAP email (att type) email account all by itself but the bulk of our machines use multiple email addresses per outlook profile which supposedly is allowed.
