Received emails claiming I requested user id

I have spent the afternoon trying to get to the bottom of a possible privacy/security issue.  No operator has helped.  This last Saturday, August 6, in the evening, I received 105 emails from AT&T saying it was in response to my talking to an agent or an online request for my forgotten user ID for my AT&T online account.  I did not make such a request.  It said to call 800-288-2020.  Each time, I was sent to someone I was told wrong department then I was re-directed to tech support who said to call again, who sent me somewhere else. Was told to call AT&T security--no luck. Was told to call the "Digital Assistance Center".  Could not get anyone on the phone and got disconnected. I've been on the phone all afternoon shifted around.  Just spoke with someone in billing who said they can't help

I am concerned that this was a possible hack or perhaps AT&T had a system issue.  Can you please assist with this?  I am in California and am concerned with my privacy right implicated by receiving 105 of the referenced emails.  How do I get to the bottom of this as to why 105 of these emails were sent, and how do I permanently purge/delete the att.com myatt account which has my home address, phone, user id, password, etc.  I no longer have any AT&T service.  Hope someone can help.  I am exhausted after 4+ hours on the phone this afternoon. HELP!  With no AT&T service I don't know why this account even exists.

Hey @tryingtogetanswers, let's take a look at these emails.

You'll need to contact our fraud department, and forward the emails to abuse@att.net.

We also suggest following the steps in this guide, it'll help you protect your email from fraud.

We hope this helps!

I did forward to AT&T Abuse along with the headers. They said it came from AT&T.  No help from them.  This was some type of a bot attack making the AT&T severs send the 100+ messages rapidly.  My email has not been hacked and I do not have any AT&T email addresses nor any AT&T services. Just the old "myatt" website account at att.com from when I had services. Anybody can prompt one of these "forgotten user name" responses to go out to the AT&T customer by simply typing in the email address in the forgot my user name page that they think an AT&T user has supplied AT&T for contact, and hen the reply goes out to that address, not to the third-party.  https://identity.att.com/identity-ui/fid/lander
