My email is deactivated and they say it can't be recovered

Hello there. I've had an sbcglobal email for about 27 years. Today when I tried to log in it said due to security concerns, I have to change my password. Not great, but ok. Then when I tried to reset my password it said after I entered it, and my last name it said "we don't have enough info to reset your password" and to call them to do it. 

After 3 hours of chats and phone calls, they concluded that they can't access my email either and that I just have to get a new email. This is insane and crushing, my entire life is in that email account. Not to mention I'm on vacation abroad right now and need the emails I'm being sent about the new regulations and requirements to get back into the U.S. 

Is there anyone out there that can help, or at least point me in the right direction to escalate this? I literally have 27 years of my life in there that I can't just scrap.

We're here to help you with your login concern, ablovegun!

 

We have a current known issue we are facing, where we are unable to request password resets for AT&T e-mails not associated with an active AT&T account. This may be the case in regards to your e-mail.

 

While we do not have a current estimated time for a resolution, we suggest reattempting to login in 72 hours.

Thank you Donovan, that is a lot more encouraging than being told eariler I'm probably out of luck and need to just set up a new email. The thought and stress of that and all of the important records that I have in emails over the decades is giving me an ulcer!! While inconvenient trying to get the necessary docs and instructions I'll need to fly back into the US, I can make it work if there is a fix coming.
