Lost access to Yahoo email while unmerging ATT & Yahoo
I used online chat yesterday to have them unmerge my Yahoo and ATT email. After that, I was not able to access either account. Online chat rep said to wait 4 hrs for it to take effect, but even then no luck logging into yahoo email. Called digital assistance and they said the online rep deactivated/deleted both the Yahoo and ATT email and they are going to escalate my case to get both accounts restored. They said someone will reach out to me in 24 - 48 hrs.
I am very worried since the Yahoo acct is my primary email and I can't afford to lose my emails. Just wondering if this happened to anyone while trying to unmerge their ATT/Yahoo. Were they able to restore everything back? Did it take a long time to get resolved?
Also, if I unmerge yahoo acct, will the "Address guard" feature still be there.

Hi @kfpanda,
Sorry to read of the trouble you are having with your email. The fact is has been escalated is a good thing. It is the same thing we would do. It can take a few days for this to be resolved.

I have spent hours dealing with AT&T, specifically the digital assistance department but have not gotten anywhere with getting my accounts restored. Is there anyone else that can help me? How can I get this escalated to a department that can reinstate my account? I have been a loyal ATT Customer and still currently a customer.

I have the exact problem. Following AT&T's Chat Support instructions I proceeded to delete my AT&T email account yesterday and after that I lost access to Yahoo too. The 'Unmerge' page is hanging up and does not let me complete the process.
I can't even post a help message on the Yahoo forums because I can't get into Yahoo since my credentials no worky (trying to change my Yahoo password sends me back to AT&T).
Help!

Your best bet is to contact ATT Digital Assistance Dept for help. It took me over a month and a lot of patience and persistence to get my account restored. They may try to tell you to go to yahoo, but you will not have zero luck getting help from yahoo.
It appear that the unmerge process/instructions has a lot of problems. Best bet is to keep the merged account or risk losing account access if the unmerge is unsuccessful.

I am having the same issue. About 3 weeks ago I unmerged the Yahoo and AT&T account and now I cannot get into my Yahoo account 😞 I am extremely devastated. I have contacted AT&T on several occasions and they say that there is nothing that they can do and I should contact Yahoo. I came across your posting and was wondering if you had any luck regaining access to your Yahoo account and if so, how did you go about getting it.

So your yahoo account still worked for 3 weeks after you unmerged the accounts? Are you still currently an ATT customer? If so, ATT digital assistance dept. should be able to restore the account. If you are not a current customer, ATT may not be able to help you. There is also a yahoo online community, you may be able to get help by posting your problem there. Unfortunately, yahoo does not have any phone support line.

I lost my account for a week. I also tweeted to @ATTHelp and they assisted as well through direct message on Twitter. ATTCARES said my accounts are unmerged now, but they still looked merged. I just got my yahoo account back last night, so I'll be seeing if I'm still merged. Which at this point, I don't care after all that stress. Hope this helps. Good luck!
