Losing pop3 connections in outlook with ATT (@att.net) email accounts.

I have slowly been losing the connections to the pop server (pop.att.yahoo.com).  I talked with ATT staff a while back and they gave me the same settings I was already using. They couldn't seem to help me. Slowly I have been losing these connections. My fix was to forward my ATT email accounts to one ATT account that was still working in outlook and then downloading the emails from that account to outlook.  However, today that account now can't talk to the pop server any more either.  I didn't change any passwords or anything else.  Now I don't have an ATT email account that works in outlook.  I see I am not the only person that can't get outlook to work with ATT's pop server. It has been using the same password that I can still log in using the att.net site.  Did you change something on your pop server.  Don't you think it would be a good idea for your people to talk with outlook people and solve this problem.  I have seen some posts on this problem going back 4 years.  The whole purpose of outlook is to download emails from multiple email accounts.  I have not had a single problem with my gmail accounts.

I now tried to change my password of the email account I used to download to outlook since it wasn't working any more.  I changed to in my ATT email account and in my outlook account.  It just won't get accepted by the pop.att.yahoo.com server.  It seems that either the server password hasn't changed with the change in the email account or Outlook isn't using the change to the new password. Now outlook has become useless and I have to log into each email account on att.net

We're happy to address your email concerns, @JimBrundahl.

In order for your email to work properly, you'll need to switch to the IMAP server.

We have an article here in the forums that covers in detail how email will no longer be imported using POP. The article discusses Yahoo! mail, but it applies to all AT&T email domains.

You can make the switch by following the steps in our guide on updating AT&T email. Just select the version of Outlook you're using from the drop-down menu to begin.

We hope this answered your question.

If you need further assistance, let us know.
