Is an alert stating that "sign in attempt was blocked for your profile" legit?

Greetings!

An email went to my spam box 10.22.19 from: deros @ bell south . net stating that "sign in attempt was blocked for your profile" followed by, "Someone just used your password to try to sign in to your profile." There is a blue box w/white writing for me to click (which I didn't) that says: CHECK ACTIVITY. Please Tell me if this is legit or not.

There is no way for anyone in att to know your password, not even att.  That's why you can only change passwords and never recover existing ones. And if they used your proper identifying name with the correct password how would "they" (whoever they tried to sign into) know it wasn't you?

 

Just trash it.
