Iphone not connecting to bellsouth email after ios 11 updates

When I updated my iphone 5s to ios 11, my bellsouth mail ceased to function.  I use the apple mail app.  My gmail account continues work from the iphone, and I can still access my bellsouth email from my computer browser.  I have updated the iphone with all the current updates to ios 11.2.  I have reset the network setting on the iphone.  I have updated carrier settings. I have deleted the bellsouth account and added it again several times.  When I use the settings at the att  website https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/dsl-high-speed/KM1010523, I get a message stating that "user name or password is not correct."

Please advise.  I need to be able to read my bellsouth email on my phone.

ATT has finally posted the solution which I found by googling today.  It turns out that ongoing updates to ATT's servers now require users to create a security key to be used as a password for the mobile device.

Good afternoon @tree83,


It is my understanding you are having issues with your BellSouth email on your iPhone 5S.  We understand the importance of being able to access email remotely.  I will be happy to assist you with this matter.


Please make sure you are entering the most current and accurate settings.  Access the Mail Settings Lookup Tool found at support.apple.com.  Just enter your email address and submit, this tool will provide the correct settings.


If the settings are correct, and you are still having an issue, please access the AT&T Troubleshoot & Resole Tool. To ensure the most robust and precise troubleshooting experience we will ask you to log in with your myAT&T User ID and password.


Once you have signed in successfully, scroll down to Service/network issues > Email > Email not working > Next and follow the on screen instructions.  This tool will diagnose the matter and provide the best resolution.
