Click on the advanced settings button, which will take you to your Gateway (or you can go to http://192.168.1.254/ , which will take you the same place). Once there, click on Firewall > Security Options (and provide the password from the sticker on the side of your Gateway). From there you should be able to disable it.

Jeff -- I really appreciate your help! I have spent more than 10 hours over the last 3 days, on the phone with AT&T, searching the internet, searching my entire hard drive, and no one and no where has been able to provide any real helpful suggestions.
I tried to use AT&T's Internet Security Management web page at least 20 times on four different browsers. That app does not work.
Again, thank you very much. I hope some one from AT&T's Tech Support picks your suggestion up and adds it to the FAQs dealing with this problem.

@JefferMC How long has this worked? I always had to use the smarthome app to turn on the security.

I don't know how long AT&T Internet Security had been installed. I guess it was installed when I upgraded my router about a year ago. It only surfaced when I was trying to access a site I knew was safe and the application refused to let me log on.
I have been using MalwareBytes Premium for many years, and that program does not flag a site, I feel very confident that it is safe.
It was not until JeffMC gave me a solution that worked before I could disable AT&T and McAfee programs that I can run my computers the way I wish to. I have been using and building PCs since the mid 1980s and I stopped using McAfee many years ago.

This is the only way I know of to turn it off. You cannot turn it on this way, you have to use the Smarthome App (or web site) turn it on. As far as I know, it has always been this way.

Hi @JefferMC I do not have the “Security Options” option under Firewalls in modem settings. Should I be looking elsewhere? I need to turn the security feature off to allow some streaming apps to run.

Which model Gateway do you have?
Look under the "Parental Controls" and tell me what you have there?

I am not as familiar with the 5268AC. On the BGWxx0 gateways, the page that has the Parental Control status would have an item for the Security with the ability to disable it if Smart Security was turned on. Maybe it's not... what makes you think that it is turned on?
