We're here to help get your e-mail setup, straub1007!

Thank you for the great link you provided, JefferMC!

To put it more in context, in order to login to your e-mail in Outlook 2016, you will need to Create a Secure Mail Key. This is a security measure that encrypts your password, and you are able to create and manage it via myAT&T.

You will then use your Secure Mail Key as your password when logging into any 3rd Party programs or applications that are not Open Authentication compatible, while your login to any AT&T sites will stay the same.

If you are needing the information for server settings, we suggest using IMAP for your 3rd Party e-mail clients.

Let us know if you need any further assistance. Thank you for being a part of our AT&T Community!

The link above worked somewhat.  However, I am not receiving incoming emails unless I goto the Outlook FILTER EMAIL setting and select "Sent to me or CC me".  Then the incoming emails show up, but they go away if I switch email folders and go back to Inbox.    Note: I do not have this problem in setting up my Bellsouth Email accoung on my iPhone or iPAD (no Outlook).   Could someone help explain what may be happening on my Windows PC (Windows 10) and using Outlook 2016 ?

Hi there, straub1007! Thank you so much for coming back and updating us. We appreciate it.

Thank you @JefferMC for all that you do for the AT&T Community.

Everything that we have supplied to you is the best resources available to you. However we do have a some of questions for you.

  1. Is it just one email address that you are not getting email from or all email address?
  2. Do you have any rules or email forwarding set up that is making your emails go somewhere else?
  3. Have you checked all folders, created or standard to make sure that emails have not gone into spam, junk, or trash?
  4. Are you able to send out emails from Outlook properly?
  5. Did Outlook 2016 come with your Windows 10? or was this a program with you downloaded from Microsoft?

The reason why we are asking these questions, is that there could of been some accidental additional settings that were implemented but were not completed. So going back and checking everything is the best way to correct it.

If you are still having a problem with the email client delivering your email, but it is going to the wrong place, then we suggest the following:

  • Remove the account from the client.
  • Close the client down.
  • If downloaded, uninstall the program and then reboot the computer.
  • Redownload the program, this is to make sure that you have a fresh copy of the program.
  • Set-up the account again.

If this problem keeps happening, then you might want to seek help from Microsoft, as it is their program could be malfunctioning.

If there is anything else that you need, please reach back out to us again.

Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

Everything that we have supplied to you is the best resources available to you. However we do have a some of questions for you.

  1. Is it just one email address that you are not getting email from or all email address?   I have a GMAIL email account on the same computer using Outlook 2016 and it is working fine on all fronts.
  2. Do you have any rules or email forwarding set up that is making your emails go somewhere else?  No Rules show up when I select Manage Rules and Alerts.
  3. Have you checked all folders, created or standard to make sure that emails have not gone into spam, junk, or trash?  I checked all folders and Incoming messages are not showing up
  4. Are you able to send out emails from Outlook properly?  Yes – from the BELLSOUTH Email in Outlook 2016 I can send emails to my HOTMAIL account or other EMAIL Addresses, but I did not receive the same message that was also sent to my BELLSOUTH Email address.
  5. Did Outlook 2016 come with your Windows 10? or was this a program with you downloaded from Microsoft?    Outlook 2016 is part of the MS Office package I purchased from Microsoft.

The reason why we are asking these questions, is that there could of been some accidental additional settings that were implemented but were not completed. So going back and checking everything is the best way to correct it.

If you are still having a problem with the email client delivering your email, but it is going to the wrong place, then we suggest the following:  Still not working -  I will try the actions below next

  • Remove the account from the client.
  • Close the client down.
  • If downloaded, uninstall the program and then reboot the computer.
  • Re-download the program, this is to make sure that you have a fresh copy of the program.
  • Set-up the account again.
