@kingofa - that is not a permanent solution. It only lasts as long as you don't reload the page.
@jefirdjr found a solution for the old layout (post 16). Hopefully it's just a matter of time and new filter can be found but even there that's only useful if it can be figured out how to run such a filter with ABP disabled for the page since blocking ads now breaks some functionality too.

Works on mine... Even after reloading... So far.
As this is my second attempt at a Reply, this AT&T is still a crappy way to to relay info.. I doubt the new owners will fix anything. It's way too important to make UNNECESSARY changes and count the U.S. Government Dollars they get per Member/Subscription... Actual and Fictitious.
Lets see how many (USELESS) Points they can FINE me... This time. I'll try not to laugh too hard.

I really find that hard to believe. The x never was permanent even in the "old" webmail. And I don't see it as a permanent setting in in the new either and that's after trying a number of browsers. But in the old ABP worked along with the filter specified earlier. Why do you think this thread was created?
Huh? That's rhetorical, don't really want to know.

Doesn't matter. If it works for a time... That's okay. If it quits tomorrow... It''s Standard Operating Bull-Ends. Just another load. No different than any other so called Social Media... Facebook, Twitter, and the like.
Again, doesn't matter.

I found 2 different methods to prevent them
"ublock origin" chrome (or other browser) extension,
then I added these 3 filters (the first one worked for a little while, then it stopped, but since adding the other 2, no videos have appeared
||mail.yahoo.com/neo/video?channels=emptyfolder$xmlhttprequest
mail.yahoo.com/neo/video?channels=emptyfolder$xmlhttprequest
@@||mail.yahoo.com/neo/video?channels=emptyfolder$xmlhttprequest
the 2nd method (which I tried and of course worked), was to put or leave one email in each of my folders....never empty it completely....that prevented the videos from loading, and if the above filters stop working, i'd go back to this trick.....I'd much rather see one email than those stupid auto-loading video ads
good luck ;- )

Try this: Compose a message subject: "test" and send it to yourself... then KEEP it in your Inbox... it will then stop the stupid videos from loading into your Inbox...

If you CLOSE your Email for any reason, and open it again, it may come back. In which case, you'll have to "Click" it again.Yahoo needs the money. The Government pays them for EVERY Subscriber/Member(?). Even if same no longer uses it for ANY Reason.
